Former name was Robeson County Committee on
Domestic Violence, INC in 1981.
Founded by a group of 5 concerned citizens of
Robeson County.
SFVC has been in operation for over 30 years and
has served over 15,000 individuals and families.
Funded by Robeson County, North Carolina
Council For Women, NC Governor’s Crime
Commission, United Way of Robeson County, NC
Dept. of Health & Human Services, Emergency
Food & Shelter Program and the City of
Lumberton.
Each individual is the expert of his or her
situation.
All people must be offered a safe,
respectful, non-judgemental environment to
identify their own needs and make their own
decisions.
Personal and societal violence is rooted in
oppression and in the fundamental power
imbalances in our society.
Each person has the right to self-
determination, safety, and a life free from
violence.

The purpose of the Robeson County Domestic
Violence Task Force is to improve the systems
that address intimate partner & family
violence in Robeson County. We do that by
partnering and collaborating with key
entities/organizations as well as with
concerned citizens. The Task Force meets
quarterly in Lumberton.
