Statement of the Problem

• This study aims to determine the profile, study behaviors and

academic performance of Nursing Students at Catanduanes State
University, College of Health Sciences.
• Specifically, it will answer the following questions:
• What is the profile of nursing students at Catanduanes State
University, College of Health Sciences in terms of:
• Parent’s Monthly Income
• Number of Hours Spent on Studying
• 1.3 Number of Class Load/Unit
• What are the study behaviors of the nursing students in terms of the
following:
• Learning Strategies
• Attitudes/Habits
• What is the level of academic performance of nursing students at
CSU, CHS?
• Is there a significant relationship between the study behaviors and
academic performance of nursing students at Catanduanes State
University, College of Health Sciences?
• Scope and Delimitations of the Study
• This descriptive study will be conducted to determine the profile, study
behaviors and academic performance of the Nursing students at
Catanduanes State University, College of Health Sciences S.Y. 2017-2018.
The researchers will only cover nursing student of CSU-CHS for easier,
accessible data gathering and to actually observe their study behaviors and
academic performance.
• Significance of the Study
• The study will be a way in order to improve good study behavior, student’s
learning and student advising and will be helpful not only for the students
to have good academic performance but to prepare them for future
desirable goals.

• RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
• This research study cited books, articles and laws, which are relevant
to the present investigation. It is composed of related literature and
studies, both local and foreign, which contain facts and information
on the research problem at hand. It also provides explanations and
logical connections between previous researches and the present
work.
CHAPTER III
This chapter presents the research design and methodology to be utilized in
the conduct of the study. It specifically describes the processes to be used in
research design, research locale, subject of the study and sampling
procedure, instrumentation and data gathering procedure, and statistical
treatment of data to be used.
• Research Design
• This study will use the descriptive-correlation method of research wherein
the relationship of the quantitative variables such as the profile, study
behaviours, and academic performance of selected respondents will be
described and correlated. Specifically, this study will be undertaken to see
the significant connection among the profile, study behaviors, and
academic performance of the nursing students of Catanduanes State
University, College of Health Sciences.
• Research Locale
• This research study will identify profile, study behaviour and academic
performance of nursing students for school year 2018-2019, will be
conducted at the Catanduanes State University, College of Health Sciences
where the students as respondents can be found easily.

• Subject of the Study and Sampling Procedure

• The primary sources of data are the Nursing students who will respond to
the interview schedule with the use of structural questionnaire. The
secondary sources of data will be the lists of nursing students to be secured
from the data file of the Department of Nursing. Relevant literature obtain
from books, magazines, and other reference materials as well as related
studies are the tertiary sources of data.
• Instrumentation and Data Gathering Procedure
• The research instrument to be used in this study is a questionnaire that will cover the profile, study behaviours and academic
performance of nursing students at CSU, CHS. For the secondary source of data, documents are available at CSU, CHS office will
be utilized.
• To validate the instrument prepared, copies of the instrument will be given to the adviser to critique the questionnaire. The
original questionnaire will be subjected for pre-test or pilot study to selected respondents not included in the study for
improvement of the instrument to be used.
• The following procedures will be done in gathering data needed in the study. Permission to conduct the study will be sought
from the Office of the Dean. The researchers prepared the instrument to be used in gathering the data with the assistance of
their adviser. Validation will be done by asking comments and suggestions from the teachers who are not respondents in the
study.
• Statistical Treatment of Data
• The following statistical tools will be used in the statistical analysis of the data gathered. The researchers will use descriptive
statistics in analyzing and interpreting the data to be gathered in the study such as weighted mean.
