Absences…
• If a student is missing without notification from parents,
we mark’ogiltig frånvaro’.

• "Anledning saknas" does not generate an SMS to you.

• "Frånvarande - ogiltig" or "Sen ankomst - ogiltig"

both generate an sms to you.

• If we do not hear from you after this, we will call or email

• This take a lot of time :/

• So, it’s very important you register absences or ”late

days” in Skolplattform.

Evaluation of English as
”Mother Tongue”
• The bilingual students (Buttercups) at Johannes Skola
follow the curriculum for svenska during all ML English
classes (but in English, of course)…

• The entire class will be following the common curriculum

for engleska during all engelska classes (with an
emphasis on higher goals for the Buttercups)

• The Buttercups will be evaluated using the goals and

guidelines of the svenska subject for ML English, and
you will see this evaluation under modersmål on all IUPs
HOMEWORK:

MATH!!! Fall Term
• Number Sense
• Addition/Subtraction
• Multiplication
• Geometry
• Measurements
• Problem Solving with
Weekly Word Problems
Six Problem-Solving Steps

•  Write what you know about the problem (the facts)

• Write what you are looking for in the problem (the
question(s))
• Write ALL of your strategies (Everything you do to
try to solve the problem).
• Write your solutions (the answer(s)). Equations?
• Explain how you checked your work.  (Be sure it's
correct.)
• Extend the problem by writing a new problem based
on the original.  (This is so much fun and really adds
to the conversations.
What is the first thing we should
look for?
• What is an EQUATION?

Let’s practice…I’ll say words, and you tell me what kind of

equation it is 

altogether
each
take away
What do we look for first?

-Snappy the Smurf has 5

bowls of worms, and in
each bowl, there are
seven worms. How many
worms does he have?
What is the EQUATION?

-What if his friend came

over, and Snappy gave
away 1 bowl of worms?
What’s the EQUATION?

• THINK: How are you feeling on your first day of 2b?
• How were you feeling about coming back to school last
night?
• What makes you happy about second grade? Sad?
Scared? Nervous?
• Instead of using ENGLISH or SWEDISH to describe our
feelings about second grade, we will use EMOJIS.
Ex:

Can you guess my feelings?

5 Finger Word Count
When you find a book…
• Open to a random page…
• Hold up 5 fingers…
