PASSIVE VS ACTIVE

 The active voice:

 The active voice is more direct and personal.


 In active voice the subject performs the action.

 The passive voice:

 When the object is more important than the subject and the agent
is either obvious, not important or unknown.
 In format writing to make it less personal.
 When we describe a process.
 Nomenclature

 s= Subject
 v= Verb
 “to be”= conjugated verb
 pp= past participle
 comp= complement
 aux= auxiliar “have”, “has”, “had”
 w=will
 g=going to
Active Passive
 Simple present
 I help the teacher The teacher is helped by me

 Present progressive
 I am helping the teacher The teacher is being helped by me

 Perfect present
 I have helped the teacher The teacher has been helped by me

 This verbs can not be used in passive voice


 Ask, believe, estimate, expect, feel, know, mean, report, say, see,
suppose, think, understand.
