Bones in

Human Body
The human skeleton is the internal framework of
the body. It is composed of around 270 bones at
birth – this total decreases to around 206
bones by adulthood after some bones have fused
together. The bone mass in the skeleton reaches
maximum density around age 21.

Skull
The skull is the bony skeleton of the head.
Excluding ear ossicles, it is made of 22 bones.
All the bones of skull, joined together by
sutures, are immobile and create the cranium,
with the exception of mandible (bone of lower
jaw). On the other hand, the two terms skull and
cranium are used synonymously.

Bones of
Upper Limb
There are around 30 bones in each upper
limb the longest being the Humerus bone.
In the figure below phalanges and
metacarpals bones are grouped together.

Vertebral
COlumn
The vertebral column is a vertical series of
approximately 33 small bones (known as
vertebrae), which are separated by intervertebral
discs.
It can be separated into five different regions,
with each region characterised by a different
vertebral structure.

RIBS
The ribs stretches posteriorly from thoracic vertebrae
to the anterior lateral edges of the sternum. They are
ribbon like, elastic bony arches and flat in shape.
Coastal cartilages are joined to the anterior ends. The
costal cartilage and ribs together makes the costa.
Also the large part of the thoracic skeleton is created
by the ribs and their costal cartilages.

Bones of
Pelvis
The pelvic skeleton is formed by the
sacrum and the coccyx at the back and by a
pair of hip bones on each side. Each hip
bone consists of 3 sections, ilium,
ischium, and pubis.

Bones of
Lower Limb
The lower limb contains 30 bones. These
are the femur, patella, tibia, fibula,
tarsal bones, metatarsal bones, and
phalanges.
