POSSIBILITY

Expressing possibility can be


regarded as the way we
express possibility. Obviously it
is to reveal possibilities.
Word used to express possibility :

It’s so possible…
It is possibly happened…
Maybe…
There’s a chance…
Perhaps ….
1. Perhaps/Maybe
Perhaps or Maybe can be used if a thing was possible, but the speaker is
not entirely sure. The use of "perhaps" more formal than "maybe".
Example : Perhaps that was the answer
Maybe he was a tired
2. May/Might
May and Might be used on something that might happen. Might be
used in the unlikely happen.
Example : He might stay at home
3. May be
Glance may be the same as maybe, but actually different. May be a verb
phrase that in its use must be followed by an adjective, noun, or a verb.
Example : He may be win
4. Possibly
Possibly used to express something that might happen. We are more or
less synonymous with perhaps / maybe, only more formal.
Example : Possibly he will not come

• My grandmother may travel alone.
• May be she will make the trip alone.
• Perhaps she will visit London.
• Possibly, she will go by plane.
• It's possible that someone will meet her at the airport.
• She might buy some presents for the family before she
goes.
• I suppose she might spend a lot of money on the
presents.
• There's a chance she'll like the city.
• She will take an umbrella as it could rain heavily there..
IMPOSSIBILITY

Expressing Impossibility
• No, it's impossible to repair that old
Chevrolet.
• Even a good mechanic can't possibly fix it.
• We may not be able to travel by car.
• There's no chance my father repairs it
tomorrow.
