Site Selection Purpose


 IISc, Bangalore is the first institute in our country to
provide aircraft supervision course.
 The reason for selecting this institution is its prime
importance given by the government.
 Its link with ISRO for carrying on interim research at
IISc laboratries.
 Natural that they are equipped world class equipments
and to suit they are placed in well planned labs.
Site History
 Started by HAL(Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) in
1940
 Department of Aeronautical Engineering started at
IISc
 Main block started by Ratan Tata
 Labs inaugurated by A.P.J Abdul Kalaam
About The Department
 It consists of the following blocks:
 Administration block
 Labs and faculty offices x 2
 Airstrip
 Low speed aerodynamic lab
 High speed aerodynamic lab
 Laboratory for hypersonic and shockwave research

Drawbacks
 Labs circulation is merging with kindergarten
 No airstrip
 No gates for hanger
 Very small canteen
 No separate dining area for srudents
