IMPROVEMENT

 AMR CODEC SETTING CHANGE

Introduction

In this presentation we are going to see how

AMR Codec Setting can help us to improve the
SQI, Rx Quality & TCH Drop in GSM
technology.
AMR (Adaptive Multi Rate)-

The AMR system exploits the implied performance compromises by

adapting the speech and channel coding rates according to the
quality of the radio channel.
At Low C/I, the Channel coding will increase & Speech Coding will
decrease & At High C/I, the Speech coding increases & channel
coding decreases.
AMR (Adaptive Multi Rate)-

As per the current scenario we have 4 codec mode for FR3( Mode-
1,3,4,7) & HR3 (Mode-1,3,4,5). Now we want to change to 2 mode{
FR3(Mode-5,8) & HR3(Mode-3,5)}
AMR (Adaptive Multi Rate)-

As per the below Graph- At FR (4.75)Speech coding will be less &

channel coding will be high & if we change the codec from FR (4.75)
to FR (7.40) than speech quality will increase.
Implementation

Checking the parameters in BSC with the commands:

•rladp:set=FR3;
•rladp:set=HR3;
•Raepp:id=AMRFRSUPPORT;
•Raepp:id=AMRHRSUPPORT;
