Rolling Shutter

• These are the steel doors have a provision to roll up


at the top easily and cause no obstruction to either
door opening or floor space.

Features of Rolling steel shutter

• Horizontal shaft fitted in a octagonal box provided at the


top of the opening

• Two helical springs are fitted to which the shutter is


attached and counter balanced

Shutter consists of

• 50 mm wide curved plates seamed with each other

• Steel guides ( channel section) for the movement of


the shutters.

Classification of rolling shutters
(Based on the area of the opening)

• Area of opening < 10 m2

Pull push type rolling shutter

• Area of opening > 10 m2

Mechanical gear rolling shutter

Sliding Doors

• In this type of door, the shutters are fixed to top and


bottom guide channels in which they slide to either one
side or both sides in the same plane.

Sliding doors are used for

Very big openings of

• Godowns

• Workshop

• Garages

Sliding door consists of

• Steel or Aluminum shutter to which steel rollers are fixed


at top and bottom frames of the shutter.

• Moves along a track (channel section which guides the


frame movement) provided at the top and bottom

Sliding door may consist of

• One leaf

• More than a leave

• Can slide side way either on one side

• Both the sides

Runners / Guides

• Runners are fixed past the opening for a distance equal

to the width of the panel

• Door shutter remain on runners at its new position

• Parallel to the face of the wall clears the opening

Advantage of sliding doors while open

• Does not cause any obstruction to the movement

• Does not occupy any space of the room
