Introduction
 LASER-(LIGHT AMPLIFICATION
BY STIMULATED EMISSION OF
RADIATION)
 There are different types of lasers,
but mainly used are Gas Lasers &
Fiber Lasers.
 Fiber laser cutting is very fast
cutting process which increases
productivity and reduces production
time.

Why Fiber Laser?

1. Fiber lasers are extremely versatile.

2. Very high speed than any other machine in laser
cutting.
3. High cutting flexibility (Mild Steel, Stainless Steel,
Brass, Copper, Titanium, Aluminum, and more).
4. Maximum thickness = 30mm (SS) , 6 mm (Brass)
5. Power loss is comparitively less than CO2 lasers.

ASSIST GASES USED

1. Oxygen (O2)
2. Nitrogen (N2)
3. Argon (Ar)
4. Helium (He)

TECHNOLOGIES

1. Automatic nozzle change

2. Automatic bed change
3. Operates on CNC programming
4. Automatic programming can be done on Metallix
Autocad software

ADVANTAGES

 In laser cutting process there is no direct contact

between tool and workpiece, hence tool wear does not
exist.
 Easy machining of brittle, non-metallic and hard
material.
 Machining can be done in any environment.
 Complex shapes can be produced easily on the sheet.

DISADVANTAGES

 Laser cutting process is applicable only for thin section

and where a small quantity of material is removed.
 Need safety precaution and procedures.
 Initial cost and operating cost of system is high.

Applications

 Laser marking
 Laser cutting
 Laser engraving
 Laser welding
 Laser drilling
 Laser cleaning
