STATIVE PASSIVE

When passive voice is used to describe situations or phrases is called stative passive.

Examples:

-Nazca Lines are located in Ica, Peru.

-Physics is relationated with Mathematics.


Most stative passive sentences do not have a corresponding active sentence. It just

express states and situations so there is no action being done.

Stative passive sentences accept an active form when verbs like connect or surround are

used.

Example:

-Those cities are connected by a really long river.(passive)

-A really long river connects those cities.(active)


In stative passive constructions, the past participle works as an adjective and it’s often

followed by a prepositional phrase.

Example:

- That piece of jewerly is made of diamond and gold.

- Icpna institutes are located in many districts of Lima.
