User Productivity Kit

(UPK)
How do I use it?
TRAINING | UPK
User Productivity Kit (UPK) will be used for content development for the Project
ENCORE training program.
•UPK provides multiple deployment modes in which instructors and end users can learn
and practice Hyperion functions and transaction processes.
•Below you will see four of the various modes in which users will experience UPK during
training. The fifth mode is “Print It!”, where the user can open a word document of the
steps for each transaction.

BENEFITS OF UPK
There are many key benefits of using UPK as a component
of training:
– Provides a safe environment to practice
– No risk of system failure during training
– Users can practice as many times as they want in the UPK
simulation without having an impact on data
– Faster response time during classroom exercises
– Built once but used multiple times—UAT, training, user desk
guides, etc…

UPK testing will be used for security access! For access to

be given, a passing score will be attained by the user for
each course, in the “Know It” mode.

UPK MODES – Instructor-Led Training

– Try It!
• Know It! Mode:
– This is a test mode. Access to the production environment may
be based upon a minimum passing score for all scripts.
• Do It! Mode:
– This is a learning mode. This mode runs on top of a Hyperion
environment and is recommended as a reminder step-by-step
guide while working in production.
• Print It! Mode:
– This is a learning mode. This mode opens a Microsoft Word
document with the step-by-step instructions for each
transaction.

Order of Learning
ORDER OF LEARNING
• The only learning set which is a prerequisite for all other learning paths is the
General path.
• Workspace and PSPB Navigation must be completed and understood before
any other learning path is begun. The Reporting scripts may be done at any
time.
• The other paths – Line Item, Human Capital Planning (HCP), and Capital may
be done in any order, though it is recommended to do HCP first, then Line
Item, then Capital.

• Each script is numbered. It is recommended that the user follows the order of
the numbered scripts while first learning.
• If the user needs a reminder of how to do a specific item, the user can come
back to the specific script and do any of the modes, See It!, Try It!, Do It! or
Print It!, for the reminder.

23
MODES OF LEARNING RECOMMENDATION
• For each numbered script, it is recommended that the user:
1. Watch the See It! mode.
2. Participate in the Try It! mode.
3. Check your understanding in the Know It! mode.

Note: At any time, you may use the Print It! mode. The documents in the Print
It! are also available in the User Guide for each specific learning path. It is
recommended that the user use the Print It step-by-step instructions while
using the Know It! mode.

DO IT MODE
The Do It! mode is used with the production workspace open. It runs in the
corner and gives the step-by-step instructions for completing a particular learning
subject. The Print It instructions may also be used while working directly in
production.
