- DESCRIPTIVE APPROACH
SUITABILITY
• Spoken language
• Appropriate for all level.
• Low level : for a better exposure.
PRESCRIPTIVE APPROACH

- A strict set of rules on what the speaker should/ shouldn’t


said
- Should be taught since early education, especially for those
who are not well-exposed to the language.
- Should be emphasized for high level students.
COVERT APPROACH

• Appropriate for young learner/low level students – to gain


their interest
• Grammar is learned through the activity.
• They have ample time to practise the question form.
OVERT APPROACH

• Should be used during early education


• Appropriate for young learner/low level as teacher explicitly
explains the rules when presenting the new language.
• The activities are focused on getting the pupils to work with the
language ( rational cloze, objective questions)
GRAMMAR IN CONTEXT

• Suitable for pupils of all years.


• Appropriate for advanced & intermediate pupils.
• Low level pupils need more practice and context should
be simpler.
GRAMMAR IN ISOLATION

• Suitable for pupils of year 3 and above


- young pupils may have a hard time in
understanding the grammar rules.
M.U.F FRAMEWORK

• Appropriate to students of all years and levels


- weak students probably need guidance
when using the knowledge.

• This framework allows pupils to use the targeted language through a variety of
game.
– When TL is learned through meaningful context and used, pupils will learn the language
better.

LS -1.1.3 Able to listen to and recite poems, tongue twisters
and sing songs, paying attention to pronunciation, rhythm
and intonation
ACTIVITY
• Low level
– Underline the verbs

• Intermediate
– Form 2 groups.
– 1 group chants while the other group listens and claps every time a verb is mentioned.

• Higher level/Enrichment
– To create another version of the poem by changing the tenses
