• Aim of the study is to compare effectives kegel exercise with Electrical
Stimulation and electrical stimulation alone on Erectile Dysfunction
patients

NCPT '16
OBJECTIVES
• To rectify the erectile dysfunction in a best way by the treatment of
physiotherapy.

• No significant difference between kegel exercise with Electrical Stimulation and
electrical stimulation alone on Erectile Dysfunction patients

• Alternate hypothesis
• Significant difference between kegel exercise with Electrical Stimulation and
electrical stimulation alone on Erectile Dysfunction patients

METHODOLOGY
• Study design : Pre and Post treatment Quasi experimental study
• Sampling method : Randomized control trial
• Sample size : 15
• Study population : 30 patients with erectile dysfunction of 25 – 50
years of old are selected & they are randomly divided
into two groups . Group A (n=15) receives electrical
stimulation with kegel exercise . Group B (n=15) receives
electrical stimulation alone.
• Study parameter : International Index Of Erectile Function Questionnaire(3)
• Study duration : 4 weeks
• Study setting : Sudha Institute Of Medical Science & Hospital. Erode

METHODOLOGY
• Inclusion criteria
• Patients with relevant clinical diagnosis of ED
• Patients with pelvic floor muscle weakness
• Exclusion criteria
• Hyperpyrexia
• Cardio vascular disease
• Peripheral vascular disease
• Local infection
• Hypersensitive skin
• Mentally retarded patients

NCPT '16
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION
• Apparatus are checked
• Patient’s position : supine lying
• Therapist position : walk standing
• Procedure
• In the stimulator knobs are adjusted into `0’ & towards faradic current side
• Electrodes are placed respectively (passive – just above the rectum @sacral
plexus active - ).
• Faradic current’s intensity was adjusted towards the feeble muscle contraction
at penis.
• Treatment duration : 20 minutes
• Stimulation was given once a day for a month.

NCPT '16
KEGEL EXERCISE
• Repetitive contraction of the pelvic muscles that control the flow in urination
in order to strengthen these muscles to enhance sexual responsiveness
during intercourse.
• Procedure
• Ask the patient to feel the muscle accordingly(explained as to find your muscle
by stopping the flow of urine midstream).
• Ask the patient to erect their penis actively by placing their fingers between the
