Pagan or Catholic?
A PAGAN PERSON
a follower of a polytheistic
religion (as in ancient Rome)
 one who has little or no religion
and who delights in sensual
pleasures and material goods : an
irreligious or hedonistic person
- Mirriam – Webster Dictionary
A member of a modern religious
movement which seeks to
incorporate beliefs or practices
from outside the main world
religions, especially nature
worship.
-Oxford Living Dictionary
A CATHOLIC PERSON
He is a member of the
Catholic Church, believes
what the Church teaches,
and does what Catholics
do.
Yes or No
Fulfilling all external rituals
and rites is what is most
important.
I worship God because he
deserves it even if there is
nothing that I would receive in
return, I will continue to
adore him.
The important thing
is to do many things
for God.
When I petition God for
something, I focus more
on trying to make a
bargain with God.
I deserve what God gives me
because I am a good
Catholic; I go to Mass,
Confession, I pray the
Rosary everyday, etc.
When I ask God for
something, my value
system or stand is that
of Jesus.
What I ask from God are
mostly spiritual goods and if
there are any temporal
gods, only those that would
assist me in becoming a
saint.
When I am suffering, I
focus more on asking
God to remove the
cause of my suffering.
May vision of Jesus is
that Jesus came to
judge me.
I am more afraid of
sin than suffering.
I detest sin first and
foremost because of how it
affects God; I fear hurting
the Father who loves me
and cares for me.
I experience God’s
commandments as mere
obligations that I need
to fulfil to enter heaven.
The commandments make
me feel that I am a friend of
God; they allow me to
share in his life, love and
power; they are signs of my
union with God.
When I sin, I regret
sinning.
When I leave the
confessional, I live my life
as before.
I can take it easy with my
weakness because I can
always and easily go to
confession.
Fulfilling all external rituals
and rites is what is most
important.

are pure (for God alone; he
must increase and I must
decrease).
