Overview:
Travel agents sell
transportation, lodging, and
admission to entertainment
activities to individuals and
groups planning trips. They
offer advice on destinations,
plan trip itineraries, and make
travel arrangements for clients.
Duties:
• give clients information about travel
options and tour packages
• make bookings and reservations
• prepare tickets and receive payment
• work in travel agencies,
transportation and tourism firms and
hotel chains

Work Environment:
• Work typically takes place in a
office setting.

Education and Skill Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is usually
required.
• A college diploma or vocational training in travel or
tourism is usually required.
Applicants must have one of the
following prerequisites:
•Grade 12 diploma from a Canadian high school or an equivalent level
institution worldwide
•Successful completion of the Government Equivalency Diploma (GED)
•Apply as a mature student (over 19) and successfully complete the
Canadian Tourism College Entrance Exam with a minimum 65%
•Have completed a tourism or hospitality-related program at the Canadian
Tourism College or another institution with review
*Applicants of the Post Graduate Nursing Program must also be at least 19
years of age
