INTRODUCTION

The project proposed 704 bed teaching hospital for Kothalawela Defence University at
Werahera in Sri Lanka is an EPC project financed by Kothalawela Defence University.
The project covers an area of 145096 square meters, the floor-area ratio is 1.16 and the total
construction area is 126,000 square meters approximately.
The main building contains the 10- floor tower and 3-floor annex, the floor range of the other
13 monomers is between 2 and 10.All the structure types of the building are reinforced
concrete frame and partial structure is reinforced concrete wall.

• The bulk liquid oxygen storage vessel shall be a vacuum insulated


evaporator(VIE) complete with automatic liquid oxygen manifold to work in
conjunction with “Reserve” and “Emergency” cylinders which located in
vicinity of Services Block. VIE tank of 20,000 liters will be designed to cater
for the oxygen needs of the Hospital.
• The oxygen supply pipeline from the VIE tank will be piped to the oxygen gas
manifold located within the VIE tank enclosure. Duty and standby oxygen
cylinder banks with automatic changeover (2x 12) will be designed to
safeguard continuous supply of oxygen to Hospital in the event of an
emergency.

 The piped nitrous oxide cylinder banks (2 x 8) located at the Medical Gas Manifold
Room would
 be provided with duty and standby manifold to ensure continuous supply.
 The nitrous oxide system shall be sized to cater for medical nitrous oxide outlets for

• The Pneumatic Tube system shall be fully computer controlled
conveyance system.
• The PC shall serve as a control and supervising center which can
control and monitor all transmissions within the tube system on a
continual basis.
• The system shall include a control device for automatic reduction
of carrier transport speed by half via selection of destination
address.
• The system shall allow up to 9 different priority levels for sending
and receiving.

Nos. of external and 2 Nos. of internal Firewalls, 2 Nos. of Routers, 2 Nos.
of Core Switches, 1 Nos. of IPPABX, Server with Network Management
Software, 8 Nos. of 24 port L3 Switches, 15 Nos. of 24 port L2 Switches and
139 Nos. of 48 port L2 Switches. LAN is consist with 1000Mbps user end

SERVICE PROVIDERS.
• DATA AND VOICE FACILITIES.
For the hospital premises it is decided to take the service
provider lines such as Internet and telephone connectivity from two
different paths via two different directions. One path is decided to
enter to the hospital building from the 120 bus road side and the other
path is decided to take from 10th mile post road. Service provider is still
not decided since it’s going to be awarded by KDU through the
competitive bidding.
