Concept
• We have to design a dustbin with compression mechanism. The mechanism can
be used for compressing the garbage.
• The main aim of compression process is for increasing the capacity of the dustbin
, so that it will not overflow.
• The key feature of this dustbin is that this will completely work on solar energy
which will be generated with the help of PV panels.
• The compression mechanism will work on solar power developed.
• This dustbin will be equipped with the fill level sensor which will sense how
much garbage is actually filled.
• Now after certain specified value this dustbin will automatically notify that
dustbin is about to fill to the local garbage collection center.
• This project will be completely sponsored by EXOUSIA SOLAR SYSTEMS
Pvt.Ltd

Mechanism
• The mechanism that we have used is a modification of the convention lever
screw mechanism.
• A motor and a gear drive has been used as prime mover instead of the lever.
• When the motor rotates it in turn rotates the power screw.
• Following is the diagram of conventional lever screw press mechanism.

Mechanism
• The screw on one side is left handed where as on the other side is right handed.
• Since the screw is left handed on one half and right handed on the other it causes
the adjoining links to move up and down
• This helps in attaining the pressing motion.
