INTRODUCTION : 3
One of the major concerns in the power sector is the day-to-day
increasing power demand but the unavailability of enough resources to
meet the power demand using the conventional energy sources.

Renewable sources like wind energy and solar energy are the prime
energy sources which are being utilized in this regard

We are simulating the solar panel model using MATLAB to find the
maximum power point .
LITERATURE REVIEW : 4
Solar cell operates at very low efficiency and thus a better control
mechanism is required to increase the efficiency of the solar cell.

In this field researchers have developed what are now called the Maximum
Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms.

Here , the buck boost converter is chosen where

the duty cycle of the boost dc-dc converter is controlled by
PWM signal .
Therefore, whatever the irradiation and temperature and the
Load conditions, the converter will ensure the operating point is
5
optimized for maximum power transfer.

The Simulink model of the PV system under

different temperature and irradiation is simulated and tested.

ADVANTAGES : 13
MPPT forces PV module to operate at voltage close to maximum power point
to draw maximum available power.

MPPT solar controller allows users to use PV module with a higher voltage
output than operating voltage of the battery system .

MPPT solar controller can be applied to other renewable energy sources,

such as small water turbines, wind power turbine etc .

DisaVANTAGES :

Solar trackers are slightly more expensive than their stationary counterparts,
due to more complex technology and moving parts necessary for their
operation .

Some ongoing maintenance is needed which will cost more .

Future scope: 14

Design a controller that can vary the size of the

perturbation with respect to how far from the MPP it is .
Find the alternative for PWM(Pulse width modulation) for its
electromagnetic interference .
