ELIGIBILITY RULES
1. The 3rd Regional Inter-High School Science
Investigatory Project Competition is open to all bona fide Grade
7-10 (Junior High School) students of any public or private
academic institutions across Region IV-A CALABARZON and
Grade 11-12 (Senior High School) students across the Batangas
province.

2. Each participating schools may pitch in a maximum of


two (2) entries in any of the following categories: Applied Science
or Life Science.

3. Each participating team shall be composed of two (2) to
three (3) members (not necessarily of the same grade level). In case the
participating school submitted two entries, a student cannot represent
both research proposals.

4. Each participating team must be represented by a research


adviser who will serve as their official coach. For multiple submissions,
it will be optional to provide another research adviser for the other
entry.

5. Applied Science category includes product innovations,
engineering applications, and researches on Chemistry, Physics,
Geoscience, Astronomy and the related subfields.

6. Life Science includes product innovations, engineering


applications, and researches on Biology (Functional and Cellular),
Taxonomy, Genetics, and other subfields.

General Rules
Competition
1. The 3rd Regional Inter-High School Science Investigatory
Project (SIP) Competition is a group/team competition. Participating
schools shall be composed of two (2) to three (3) proponents (not
necessarily of the same grade level), and one (1) research adviser per
research entry.

2. If a participating school pitched in two (2) entries, no


proponent shall represent both submissions. If a member of the
participating team fails to attend the competition due to valid reasons,
their entry proceeds only with the presence of the remaining
proponents. Hence, if all of them fail to appear on the contest proper,
their entry shall be forfeited.

General Rules
3. In case of having more than fifteen (15) entries per
category, a pre-screening will be held prior to the contest
proper. Judges will examine the entries and only the top five
research proposals will proceed to the final round. The
proponents of the selected entries shall be present on the day
of the final defense.

4. If the total entries for any of the category above shall be


five (5) or less, the entries shall proceed to the final
defense.

General Rules

5. Top five qualifying teams will be announced after the


screening period on our Facebook page Philippine Institute
of Chemical Engineers Junior Chapter Batangas. Also, an
email will be sent to the participating schools regarding the
results of the initial screening of entries.

6. All research entries must have been completed within the


current academic year 2017-2018.

7. Completed research papers/write-ups must be


submitted to the organizers on or before October 23, 2017,
with the following required components.

Final Round
1. Only the top five teams will qualify to the final round
wherein they will conduct the final defense of their
research.

2. Each qualifying team must provide/send a soft copy


of their Research Visual Layout upon the notice of their
qualification through the organizations official e-mail address
(pichejcb2017@gmail.com) with the following dimensions: 34
inches in height and 22 inches in width. The content of the
research poster includes:

3. The research visual layout of the top five qualifying teams will be
exhibited on the day of the competition. For those entries with
product innovations, proponents are encouraged to bring the
output on the day of the competition.

4. The qualifying teams shall prepare a PowerPoint


presentation of their research good for 15 minutes. The proponents
can present either individually or by group. A confidential draw-lots
by participating teams coaches will be done prior to the contest
proper to determine the order of presentations.

Final Round
5. After the final defense, the judges will deliberate the
results and only the top three researches per category shall be
selected from these entries to be given the award as the first,
second, and third best research.

Criteria for Judging
1. The Board of Judges shall be composed of licensed
professionals and experts in their respective fields as rigorously
selected by the organizers. They may come from the academe,
industry, and private business organizations in the region.

2. The final judging will be held on the contest venue, after all
entries have presented. The Board of Judges has the right to
terminate or extend the time limit of a presentation, disqualify an
entry, or declare a no regional winner, prior to any circumstances.

Criteria for Judging
3. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be FINAL AND
IRREVOCABLE. The score sheets of the judges are considered
personal notes and shall not be disclosed to public scrutiny. No
school is allowed to request for this matter.

4. Any administrative or technical problem that may arise


during the contest proper shall be resolved by the organizers, whose
decision, moreover, shall be final and irrevocable.

Awards
Three (3) entries per category shall be declared winners of the
region.
The awards are as follows:

FIRST PLACE: Php 5,000.00, Certificates of Recognition, Trophies, and


Freebies. The entry will be displayed during the exhibit on the next
years ChE Week Celebration.

SECOND PLACE: Php 3,000.00, Certificates of Recognition, Medals,


and Freebies
