A NOTE ON THESIS RE-DEFENSE

Thesis outputs given a deferred grade by the


panel members requires a re-defense.
The thesis re-defense follows
the same procedures and guidelines
as a thesis presentation and defense.
However, the group re-defending
is no longer entitled to receiving the highest
possible grade which is Excellent.
Furthermore, a re-defense does not
guarantee a passing manusript grade.

Qualitative Manuscript Grade
Grade Points Description
Excellent 46-50 Approved and accepted in partial fulfillment of
the degree requirement with no revisions
Highly 41-45 Approved and accepted in partial fulfillment of
Satisfactory the degree requirement with little or minimal (less
than 25% of the manuscript) revisions
Satisfactory 36-40 Approved and accepted in partial fulfillment of
the degree requirement with some (between
25% 50% of the manuscript) revisions
Fair 31-35 Approved and accepted in partial fulfillment of
the degree requirement with major (more than
Passed 30 50% of the manuscript) revisions
Deferred Disapproved due to various reasons. Subject for
major revisions and re-defense.
