ASSESSMENT OF STRIPPING

Stripping value determination

(IS-6241 & AASHTO:T-182)

Retained stability(MORTH / ASTM D-1075)

aggregate/bitumen stripping 7
TESTING PROCEDURE OF STRIPPING VALUE
(IS-6241)
Clean & dry aggregate of size P 20mm & R 12.5mm

200 grams of Uniformly heated aggregate @1500c are coated with

5% Bitumen @1600c thoroughly

Transfer and cool at room temperature in a 500ml beaker for

2hours

Fill the beaker with distilled water

Keep the beaker in water bath at 400c for 24hours

Visually observe and estimate % coating and retention of bitumen

aggregate/bitumen stripping 8
STRIPPING VALUE DETERMINATION (IS -6241)

As per MORTH Minimum retained bitumen coating required: 95%

9
WATER SENSITIVIT Y BY RETAINED STABILIT Y TEST
(MORTH/ASTM D -1075)
Prepare 8no.s of Marshall specimens with 5% Bitumen Content

Stability test of 4no.s at 600c after 30 to 40minutes water bath conditioning

(S1)

Stability test of 4no.s at 600c after 24hour water bath conditioning (S2 )

Retained stability Index: ( S2/S1 ) X 100

Required % of Retained stability Minimum 80% (with out anti-stripping

agent)

Required % of Retained stability Minimum 75% (with anti-stripping agent)
