Repair work:

Before beginning any repair work, switch off the power supply to
all electrical components.

Ensure absolute cleanliness at all times during the repair work in order
to prevent dirt from entering the bearings, the drives, the hydraulic system
or other sensitive parts of the machine or plant.

Check that all piping is relieved of pressure and make sure that the oil supply
systems are switched off and safeguarded against restarting.

Do not remove or open any covers or protection devices before all rotating
parts have stopped.

Repair work:

Before beginning any repair work, switch off the power supply to all electrical components.

Ensure absolute cleanliness at all times during the repair work in order to prevent dirt from entering the bearings,
the drives, the hydraulic system or other sensitive parts of the machine or plant.

Check that all piping is relieved of pressure and make sure that the oil supply systems are switched off and
safeguarded against restarting.

Dismounting the axial guide (5.0):

- Dismount the dismounting flaps (1.2).

- Disconnect all piping to the axial guide and close the openings to prevent ingress of dirt.
- Dismount the temperature sensor (5.3) and close the openings to prevent ingress of dirt.
- Unscrew and remove the fixing bolts.
- Lift out the axial guide with a hoist.

Replacing the Yseal (3.2):

- Remove the V-seal (3.7).

- Unscrew the bolted connection of the clamps (3.4) and remove the segments of the clamping ring (3.1).
- Withdraw Y-seal from the contact surface.
- Thoroughly clean the contact surface of the Y-seal at the housing.
- Mount the new Yseal,

Dismounting bearing shoes:

- Dismount the dismounting flaps (1.2) on both sides of the segment of the lower housing section.
- Remove all piping to the bearing shoe and close the openings to prevent ingress of dirt.
- Dismount the temperature sensor (4.4) and close the openings to prevent ingress of dirt.

Ball Mill Trouble shooting Bearings

Dismounting a master shoe (4.1):

- Mount the inserting/retracting device (7.1.2).

- Mount the slide way (7.6).
- Mount the support (7.4).
- Position the dismounting table (7.1.1) on the slideway(7.6) and secure.
- Mount the safety stirrup (4.1.2).
- Lift the mill:
- Mark the position of the lock nut (4.2.4).
- Uniformly lift the two operating cylinders (4.2.7) by means of a pump until the air gap at the
master bearing shoe is adequate.
- Screw down the lock nut (4.2.4) until it engages.
- Reduce the oil pressure at the operating cylinder (4.2.7).
- Remove the fixing bolts at the bearing base (4.1).
- Push the master shoe (4.1) by means of the inserting/retracting device onto the dismounting table.
- As the stroke of the pull action/pressure cylinder (7.5) is limited, the support bracket (7.1.27) on the
grid bracket (7.1.25) must be repositioned.
- Mount the connecting rod (7.1.22) in the end position so that the master shoe can be completely pushed out.
Page 22 PartschW 11 Oct 2006 I:\Daten\PartschW\POLYCOM Minerals\Anlagen\CERROMUE\Training\Presentation\B Ball Mill Inspection.ppt

- Fix the dismounting table extension (7.1.12).
- Shift the dismounting table (7.1.1) onto the
slide way (7.6).
- The master shoe can now be conveyed onward
by means of locally available hoists.

- Carry out the reinstallation in reverse order.

- The mill can be lowered when the bearing shoe
is in the correct position.
- Re-adjust the bearing arrangement

Ball Mill Trouble shooting Bearings

Dismounting a slave shoe (4.2)

- Mount the inserting/retracting device (7.1.2).

- Mount the dismounting table (7.1.1).
- Mount the compensating bridge (7.1.4).
- Mount the safety stirrup (4.2.2).
- Mount the stabilizer (7.1.12) onto the holding fixture for stabilizer
(7.2.15) which is installed in the direction of the mill centre
- Mark the position of the lock nut (4.2.4).
- Turn the lock nut (4.2.4) upwards.
- Lower the operating cylinder by means of a hand pump.
- Check and correct the positioning of the safety stirrup (4.2.2).
- Remove the fixing bolts at the operating cylinder (4.4.27).
-Push the slave shoe (4.2) by means of the inserting/retracting
device onto the dismounting table (7.1.1).
- As the stroke of the pull action/pressure cylinder (7.5) is limited,
the support bracket (7.2.27) on the grid bracket (7.2.25)
must be repositioned.
- Mount the slide way (7.6).
- Mount the support (7.4).
- Remove the safety stirrup (4.2.2).
- Lower the operating cylinder further by means of a hand pump
until the bearing shoe (4.3) is in contact with the slide way (7.6)
and is separated from the operating cylinder.

CAUTION
The axial pivoting bearing (4.6) could get jammed or fall out.

- Shift the bearing shoe (4.3) on the slide way to the side.

- Carry out the reinstallation in reverse order.
