Three Main Food Groups
Carbohydrates
Fats
Proteins

3
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates Glucose Energy
1 gram = 4 Calories of Energy
First source of energy
Produces free radicals as wastes through the
process of glycation.
Rice, Bread, Pasta, Table Sugar, Fructose (fruits
& honey)
Vegetables = fiber + glucose 4
Carbohydrates
Body needs Insulin to use glucose as Energy.
Insulin effects:
Puts glucose into the cells
Excess glucose is stored as fats for energy
storage
Converts amino acids into glucose
Prevents fat burning
5
Fats
Fats Free Fatty Acids Ketones Energy
1 gram = 9 Calories of Energy
Gives clean fuel for energy: no free radicals
Commonly used by athletes for endurance

6
Fats
Second source of energy after glucose
Fats are not used for energy in the presence of
glucose and insulin
Fasting or Starvation
Avocado, Coconut, Olives, Animal Fats, Nuts
& Seeds

7
Proteins
Proteins Amino Acids Glucose Energy
1 gram = 4 Calories of Energy
Used for body building and body repair
Last food group to be used for energy after
glucose and fats, resulting to muscle wasting
Fish, Chicken, Pork, Beef, Nuts & Seeds
8
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Problem on high glucose levels in the
blood:
Excess glucose attaches to protein by the process
called glycation.
Glycation causes the proteins not to function
properly.
Glycation produces free radicals and oxidants.
These free radicals and oxidants destroy normal
cells.
9
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Obesity
Due to high insulin levels:
Excess glucose are converted into fats.
Fats are not used as source of energy, instead
they are stored in the body.
Increase fat storage results to weight gain.

10
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Diabetes Type 2
Insulin resistance leads to high blood sugar levels
because the cells do not respond to insulin
anymore.
Giving insulin injections will not solve the
problem of DM 2.
Increased fat storage, increased risk for heart
disease & doubles risk for Alzheimers Disease.
11
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Heart Disease & Hypertension
Increased glucose in the blood causes glycation
resulting to free radicals formation that destroys
blood vessels.
Increased triglycerides cause blockage in arteries
and veins of the heart leading to heart attack and
hypertension
Plaque formation or blockage in the arteries
results to high blood pressure and heart attack. 12
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Alzheimers Disease, ADHD, Autism,
Parkinsons Disease, etc
Use of glucose as the main source of energy
in the brain
Brains composition is mainly fats
Glucose produces free radicals and oxidants
as wastes.
13
Normal Diet of High Carbohydrates Low Fat
Cancer
Cancer cells were found to survive only by
using glucose as energy fuel. They cannot
use fats and proteins.
You can prevent and kill cancer cells by
starving them.

Heart Disease & Hypertension

Parkinsons Disease, etc

17
Ketogenic Diet
Fats Free Fatty Acids Ketones Energy
Very Low Carbohydrate High Fat Diet (VLCHF)
Carbohydrates coming from vegetables (for
fiber) EXCEPT POTATOES.
Fats and proteins are essential nutrients except
for carbohydrates. Our body can only produce
glucose but not fats and proteins. Practically
we can even live without carbohydrates. 18
Ketogenic Diet
Decreases Insulin levels that causes fat storage
from excess glucose.
Weight loss: addresses the problem on obesity.
Lowers blood sugar and cures Diabetes Type 2
Lowers blood Triglycerides, glycated LDL(bad
cholesterol), but increases Good Cholesterol
(HDL)
Lowers Blood Pressure 19
Ketogenic Diet
Improves brain function: memory and thinking
Obese people develop smaller brains.
Used to treat neurological illnesses:
Alzheimers Disease, Parkinsons Disease,
ADHD, Autism, etc.
Used to prevent and treat Cancer.

20
Meal Plan for Ketogenic Diet
Whole eggs (puti at pula)
Avocado with olive oil, virgin coconut oil
Cheese
Fish (salmon), pork, chicken, beef, lamb,
goat, etc.
Bacon
21
Meal Plan for Ketogenic Diet
Snacks:
Cheese
Boiled eggs
Avocado
Olives
Vegetable salads with olive oil or VCO
22
Things to remember
Discipline not to eat Rice, Bread, Pasta,
Noodles (Pancit)
Avoid softdrinks or fruit juices especially
those with fructose
Eat vegetables for fiber
Eat moderate amounts of protein
Wait for your body to adapt in using Fats
as energy. May last for even 16 weeks. 23
Things to remember
Drink lots of fluids at 8-10 glasses of water
Add salt to your diet because you will
increase excretion of sodium in the urine
Intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast)
Less hunger pangs and more body energy
Become more focused and smarter
24
Things to remember
Fats are healthy for the body provided you are
in a low carbohydrate diet. Fats will not be
stored but instead be used as energy.
Prevent and treat cancer by starving it.
Ketogenic diet prevents chronic inflammatory
illnesses by preventing glycation of proteins.
