Medialan 3D Gel

Uses 3 synergistic effects to build up Viscosity

Viscoelasticity - formation of anisometric micelles
Require an Electrolyte, and is compatible with the following Brines: KCL,
NaCl, NH4Cl and up to 0.5% of Ca & Mg Cl2
Saponification - increases solvent viscosity
Intrinsical Foaming- increases system viscosity
Application up to 250F, bottom hole injecting temperature
Uses 2 different Mechanisms to Guarantee Breaking in the
oil producing pores
Contact and or Dilution with Hydrocarbons
Reduction on pH

Blocker
Medialan in conjunction with Aquatrol I
Aquatrol I concentration is adjusted according to
permeability, from 1% to 10% by Volume.
Total counter anion concentration is optimized for formation p H using
KF, KCl or NaCl.
Usually 2 % KCL for Clay Control + 8 % NaCl is used at pH 8.5
While pumping Fluid will be Thin due to Viscoelasticity when the
fluid is inside the pores it will Gel up, but only in the absence of oil
blocking water production
Medialan will Water Wet the Pores .. Favoring Oil Flow
Aquatrol I hydrophilic chains will add a drag force 2 to 5 folds
greater for water than oil

Aquatrol I is a Ter-polymer (have 3 chains), 2 of them are used to attach to

the formation and the third one hang free in the pores. This polymer chain is
extremely hydrophilic, increasing the friction of water from 2 to 5 times
favoring oil flow. However it is only effective in wells where the water
Mobility Ratio is less than 5 times higher than the oil Mobility ratio. The
addition of Medialan will effectively improve the drag coefficient by several
folds by increasing the viscosity pores water.

Water Shut Off
Optimize Medialan Gel Viscosity @ BHST and 10 sec-1, so
that is at least 50 times higher than Oil Viscosity
Design for for 3ft to 5ft radial penetration (perforated
interval), inject in the bottom 3 ft of the perforated interval.
Use KCl or KF depending on BHST, adjust the pH to 0.5 point
below formation pH using BF-7L
Use KCL up to 180F
Use KF from 180 F to 240 F
If required add 15 to 25 ppt of GW-22 or GW-38 on the fly
While injecting Fluid will be Thin due to Viscoelasticity, Viscosity
will happen when the fluid stop in the formation and the p H of the
Fluid inside the pores adjust to formation p H in the absence of
Hydrocarbons
