ABSTRACT
A method was generated to spread the fertilizer uniformly over a
fallow land by dropping the fertilizer over the impeller disc.
The system consists of two wheels,a bevel gear has been
attached to the axle of these wheels
A impeller disc has been attached to the bevel pinion.
A hopper whichis used to store the fertilizer is placed above the
impeller disc And The fertilizer tends to fall over the Impeller
disc
It leads to equal distribution of fertilizer to crop
The flow can be controlled using a flow control mechanism
INTRODUCTION
In the recent days it has been found that farmers are unable to
gain more crop production by use of conventional agricultural
methods.
So there is big need for the development of engineering system
for compensating these drawbacks.
The major problem faced by the farmers is shortage of labors
and also the time required for Fertilization is more.
So in order to have solution to it, it was proposed to
manufacture a Fertilizer Spreader machine.
OBJECTIVE
The Fertilizer Spreader machine should satisfy the
following objectives:
To Maximize the land cover.
To reduce the time consumption of fertilization process
To be driven manually
To spread the fertilizer uniformly
COMPONENTS
Wheels
Bevel gears
Impeller disc
Hopper
Handle and stand
MATERIAL PROPERTIES
1.WHEELS:
Material Plastic

2.BEVEL GEAR:
Material - wood
No of teeth in bevel gear 20 teeth
No of teeth in bevel pinion 10 teeth
3.HOPPER:
It is used to store fertilizer
Material Plasti

4.IMPELLER DISC:
It is used to spread the fertilizer
Material Steel
Dimensions
Diameter of Impeller = 22.86 cm
Length of Impeller plates = 12.7 cm
Height of Impeller plates = 2.54 cm
5.HANDLE AND STAND
It is used to support the instrument
Material Steel
METHODOLOGY
It is to provide a simple and inexpensive fertilizer spreader in a
form of a two wheeled walk behind device.
This device is pushed manually by the rotation of wheels gets
converted in to vertical rotation of spreading disc by the set of
bevel gear.
The spreading device normally has a bladed.
The centrifugal spreader comprising disc which is rotated
aboutvertical axes and onto which the product to be spread on
theground is dropped in a suitable manner.
This is a type of spreader which can be operated manually for
spreading granular materials in farms.
DESIGN OF FERTILIZER SPREADER

1-Hopper 6- Bevel Pinion

2-Stand 7-Wheel 2
3-Wheel 1 8-Connecting Rod
4-Bevel Gear 9-Impeller Disc
5-Axle 10-Handle
DESIGN CALCULATION

Normal walking speed of man = 1.4 m/s = 23.33sec

Distance of area = 40.46856 m2

Formula:
Distance = speed x time
Time = distance / speed
Spreading distance d = vt + at2
Acceleration a = velocity / time taken

Solution:
Time = 40.46856 / 23.33
= 1.73 sec
To Find Spreading Distance
Spreading distance d = vt + at2
Acceleration a = velocity / time taken
a = 1.4/ 1.73 = 0.8092
d = 1.4 x 1.73 + x 0.8092 x (1.73)2
d = 2.422+1.2109
d = 3.632sq.feet
Spreading distance d = 3.632sq.feet
ADVANTAGES
Time savings.
Less fatigue to labor.
High speed Fertilization.
Applicable for small and medium farms.
No electric power required.
Easy to operate, as no skilled operator required.
Easy to assemble.
It is pollution free.
Maintenance cost is low.
DISADVANTAGES
Machine requires more effort in hard soil.
Operating force varies from person to person.
Manually operated, so it is difficult to run continuously.
COST ESTIMATION
CONCLUSION
By taking trials on the field of our machine and gathering all
information of other possible methods we have got following
results.
The wastage of excessive use of fertilizer has been reduced
It covers maximum land.
The main objective of our project was to fulfill the need of
farmers suffering from the problems of increasing cost of
Fertilization, labor cost and availability as it is operated by
single person.
With this machine, percentage reduction in time required for
Fertilization was observed to be 50%.And reduction in labor
cost as compared to conventional method was 80%
PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHS
STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN TO IMPROVE
Hopper should be funnel shaped so no fertilizer remains
in it.
Bevel gear must be made into accurate dimensions.
Flow control should be regulated
