Speaking Project
What will I be when I grow up?
Each student will prepare a speech or PPT to talk about what
they want to be why they grow up or to talk about their future.

 Phonics : long Vowel /a/ai,ay
Teacher will have students point to the
word grain on page 193 of the students
Edition and say the word aloud, and have
student repeat.
The letters ai and ay can stand for the /a/
sound. Listen for the sound as I say the
words again grain day-.Repeat after the
teacher.
 Vocabulary: Pronounce and look up the
definition of the words in your book,
afterwards write it in the dictionary

Students will write sentences on their
notebook
1. A courtyard is an open area with the walls of a building
around it.
2. Farmers plant their crops in the ground in rows.
3. Jon and Billys new tent is a shelter from the sun.
4. Farmers plant their crops in the ground in rows.
5. A festival is a time to celebrate. These women dance at
a festival in Mexico.
6. It is a little past twelve oclock. It could be noon or
midnight.
7. This hourglass uses sand to measure one hour. When
the last grain of sand falls, one hour has passed.
Instruction: Students will practice the following
poem
 Draw on the board three boxes of increasing
sizes

After that have students practice making comparisons

by describing classroom objects and animals.
Have students copy the everyday words on their
notebook and write sentences to make comparissons.
for example:

This tent is smaller than the others shelters.

A grape is bigger than one grain of sand.
The winter festival is the biggest celebration of the
year.

 Students will read on page 192- to 199 and
answer the following questions
THINK CRITICALLY
1. What does the grasshopper do while the ants
work?
2. Why do the ants work so hard?
3. What important lesson does the grasshopper learn at the
end of the story?
4. Are you more like an ant or a grasshopper? Explain your
answer.
