INNOVATION.
The aim of this innovation is to develop a solar drying system which will be
used to dry cocoa beans and other cash crops the target groups are Farmers,
Produce Buying Companies and Ghana Cocoa Board.
The capacity of the dryer is 250 kg which will dry cocoa beans with 60%
moisture content to 7% moisture content of the weight for export within one
week as compared to the traditional drying method which takes two to three
weeks.
The aim of this innovation is to design an embedded piezoelectic power
supply system (EPPSS) technology, the objectives include the following:
1. Develop an energy harvesting power system that will convert mechanical
vibration in to electricity to charge discharging batteries of handheld devices.
2. Due to advancement in Internet of Things (IOT) creating alternative power
supply without using conventional sources is needed, this will improve the
long duration of using handheld devices when in remote places and also
during power outages.
The components of the solar dryer are:
Solar Collector: Outer
dimensions are 4900 1070
mm2.
Blower Fan: 300 m2/h at 40
Pa 12 V.
PV: 2 panels of 12 V, 14 Wp.
Inlet Air Duct between
collector and drying bed:
metal ducting with the
smallest cross section of
0.031 m2.
Drying Bed Cabinet: 5 trays
made of plastic.
Heat Exchanger: These will
contain gravels overlaid with
a perforated plate 5 mm
holes, 10 mm.
The drying rate of cocoa beans with initial moisture content of 50% to dried
beans of moisture 7% of the weight within one week.
EMBEDDED PIEZOPACK POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM (EPPSS).

FinalVision Technology Canada is

our current target and will apply the
technology in their devices.
The embedded piezopack power
supply system (EPPSS) recharge
discharged battery by means of
power harvesting in gadgets like
mobile phones, laptops and any
handheld devices which employ
key depression for operation.
The harvested power from the
EPPSS was used to charge the
battery of a mobile phone as shown
in the movie on the right.
Potential users of this technology
include the designers of portable
and stand-alone systems such as
mobile phone, tablets, laptops and
hand-held electronic devices.
