Adjective + TO-infinitive

We use the to-infinitive:


to express purpose (to answer "Why...?"):
He bought some flowers to give to his wife.
He locked the door to keep everyone out.

after certain verbs particularly verbs of thinking and feeling:


decide, expect, forget, hate, hope, intend, learn, like, love, want

after certain adjectives.


disappointed
glad
sad
happy
anxious
unhappy
We can use adjectives to infinitive in two ways.
Let's see both of them.

It is difficult to understand her.


She's difficult to understand.
Here are the adjectives we can use in the pattern
mentioned earlier.
difficult
easy
impossible
hard
interesting
impossible
safe

His idea is almost impossible to do.
It is almost impossible to do his idea.
This leaf is safe to eat.
It is safe to eat this leaf.
Salman is very interesting to talk to.
It is very interesting to talk to Salman.
In this exercise you have to write sentences in another way.

I was happy to meet them at the function.

(BE ) ADJ + THAT CLAUSE
That + a clause may be used after a particular group of
adjectives expressing emotion.
We are happy that you are here.
We were pleased that we received the letter.
They were sad when they heard about his death.
They were excited when they heard about the birth of her
baby.
He was happy that they were coming to the party.
He was anxious that the passport was missing.
I'm very sorry that I can't join you.
IT (BE) ADJ THAT CLAUSE

It is important that you be careful at all times.

It is a good idea that Jack close all doors at night.

It is essential that it go well.

It's not necessary that they work until 3 a.m.

It is rare that we wear lab coats.
