Introduction

The PVT properties are the term generally used for PROCESS
expressing the volumetric behavior of a fluid inside a PLANT
reservoir as a function of P and T
WELL PIPE
The volumetric changes that take place in the reservoir, in
the well pipe and in the process plant, can be studied with
PVT analysis

PVT Analysis must be made with representatives reservoir RESERVOIR

fluid samples.

The objectives are to simulate the thermodynamic behavior

of the hydrocarbons, at reservoir conditions and surface
conditions.

Introduction

General Facts of the test

Also known as Flash Vaporization, is one of the first tests

that is made on field.

Specially made for oil and condensate gas.

The test might be run under reservoir conditions.

The pressure is reduced from initial conditions to

abandonment conditions.

We must verify that the

Equipment Test

Designed for simulate pressure and

temperature of a reservoir.

It has a window to see all the process.

Has a volume of 650 cc, a maximum

pressure of 10000 psi, and a maximum
temperature of 300 F
Experimental Process

Put the representative sample of the reservoir fluid, (1 phase) into the cell. At TLab,
get to a high pressure.

Shake the cell and check the pressure, adjust manually until the pressure get to be the
same on step one.

Decrease the pressure to the bubble point, u would notice that the volume has increased.

Make a graphic of Pressure vs Sample Volume. P

Experimental Process

5 At TLab, get to 1 phase and 500psi above Bubble point.

6 Go from TLab to TRes (Constant Pressure). Using the volumes and Temperatures,
calculate the coefficient of Thermal expansion . 2 = 1[1 + (2 1)]

7 Repeat step 1,2,3,4 using Tyac.

The bubble point founded at TRes is higher than TLab, due to solubility of gas is
8 lower when the temperature increase.

Conclusions

The test gives high quality information to predict the behavior of the reservoir during
the productive time

The efficacy of this test is highly related with the representative sample that we take
from de reservoir.

This information help to decide the way is going to be produced the oil, or the gas.
