involving the collection, modification and retrieval of all transaction data ie, SAP
ECC, JD Edwards
Analytics System: The use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and

sources.

Business Intelligence (BI) is a suite of front-end applications that allow business users to

Classic Reports
A classic report is a program that generates a single list, which must contain all of the
required detail information.

For background processing

After starting a background job, there is no way of influencing the program.
The desired selections must be made beforehand and the list must provide detailed
information.

For dialog sessions

The user is present during the execution of the program and can control and
manipulate the program flow directly.
To be able to use all advantages of the online environment, classical reporting was
developed into interactive reporting.
Classical List
SAP List Viewer (ALV)
ALV unifies and simplifies the use of lists in the ECC System. Uniform user interface and list format is available for all
lists.
ALV report consists of some per-defined options like sort, filters, sum, downloading, print, changing the layout
structure and many more.

Using ALV, We can have three types of reports: The list layout can be chosen
Simple Report as ALV Classic display or ALV
Block Report Grid display.
Hierarchical Sequential Report

SAP List Viewer can be used to view both single-level lists and multilevel sequential lists.
Single-level lists contain any number of lines that have no hierarchical relationship to each other (e.g. Asset
Balances RABEST_ALV01).
Multilevel sequential lists consist of any number of lines that have two hierarchical levels. Multilevel lists have
header rows and item rows; the item rows are subordinate to the header rows. For each header row there can be
any number of subordinate item rows (e.g. Asset Transaction List RABEWG_ALV01).

Logistics Information System (LIS)
LIS can be used to effectively monitor, control, and plan business events in the
logistics cycle to make effective decisions
LIS has modular structure where users can analyze data in various ways
LIS comprises variety of techniques to evaluate data
LIS allows not only to evaluate actual data, but also to create planning data
LIS thus acts as a flexible tool to aggregate and cull out important data.
Key figures can be defined in LIS to keep track of important logistics
parameters.
LIS even allows users to customize the reports as per individual reporting
requirements making it a flexible reporting and analytical tool.
Logistics Information System (LIS)
The Logistics Information System (LIS) is made up of the following information
systems :

Sales Information System

Purchasing Information System
Inventory Controlling
Shop Floor Information System
Quality Management Information System
Plant Maintenance Information System
Transport Information System
Logistics Information System (LIS)
Standard Analysis
Standard analyses are based on statistical data in the Logistics Information System, which is
contained in "information structures". Important key figures are directly updated from the
operative application to the information structures.

Flexible Analysis
Flexible analyses allow you to evaluate any SAP data structures and can be used for ad-hoc
analyses.

The comparison of planned and actual data plays a vital part in the decision-making process. For
this reason, the information systems give you the option of entering planning data, in addition to
retrieving and aggregating actual data.

ABAP Query
1. The SAP Query application is used to create reports not already contained in the
default. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP
programming language ABAP.

2. SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reports and create
different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.

3. These outputs can include lists on screens in table format, ALV grids,
downloadable spreadsheets, and downloadable flat files. The internal report
generator creates an ABAP program corresponding to the definition of the list.
Quick Viewer
Quick Viewer is a Report Generating tool. Quick Viewer has been designed for users
with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language. It generates simple
reports as per business need, without the need for any ABAP coding. It is quick and
easy to use tool for quick collection of data from SAP ECC system.

Quick Viewer VS SAP Query

1. Quick Viewer reports are user dependent they cannot be exchanged between users while
SAP Queries can be assigned to one or more user group.

2. Quick Viewer only creates Basic List while SAP Queries also have capability to create Statistics
and Ranked lists.

3. Quick Viewer do not require Infosets for their generation as we can specify data source
explicitly while SAP Queries does.
