WHAT IS LYMPHOMA?:(

.Lymphoma is a form of cancer that affects the immune system


.It is a cancer of immune cells called lymphocytes, a type of white blood
cell. There are two broad types of lymphoma, they are Hodgkin lymphoma
and non hodgkin lymphoma

The Cause of Lymphoma
.The causes of lymphoma are unknown
.DNA mutation may be the reason that lymphoma
may develop in the human body but what triggers those
mutation are unknown
Is Lymphoma Hereditary ?
1. There has been no experiment that established between lymphoma
person's family history Those with no history of lymphoma in their
family are less at risk for lymphoma than those with ancestors who
have had lymphoma.

2. This lack of a hereditary link goes for both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin
lymphoma..
Race Lymphoma Affects

.Lymphoma develops more frequently in


Caucasians than those of African or Asian
descent

.The Lymphoma disease is known to


affect males more than females
Symptoms Of Lymphoma
Swollen lymph nodes in your neck, armpits or groin.

Abdominal pain or swelling.

Chest pain, coughing or trouble breathing.

Fatigue.

Fever.

Night sweats.

Weight loss.
Diagnosed
. If your symptoms suggest you might have non-Hodgkin lymphoma,
your doctor will want to get a thorough medicalhistory, including
information about your symptoms, possible risk factors, family
HISTORY, and other medical conditions.

.Next, the doctor will examine you, paying special attention to the
lymph nodes and other areas of the body that might be involved,
including the spleen and liver. Because infections are the most
common cause of Enlargedlymph nodes, the doctor will look for an
infection in the part of the body near the swollen lymph nodes.

.If the doctor suspects that non-Hodgkin LYMPHOMA might be


causing the symptoms, he or she will recommend a biopsy of the area.
.Once Lymphoma is diagnosed, other test can
help find out the extent of the disease, the stage,
and other information to help the doctors plan
treatment
Why I Chose Lymphoma
. I chose to write about lymphoma because
its a very common cancer and everyone else
chose all the the other ones.

.Treatments are similar to those for other cancers. They
include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and specialized drug
therapy.

Chemotherapy (also called chemo) is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to destroy cancer cells.
