Project Overview

Big idea :- Transportation


Area of integration:- Language, Pre-math, Gross
motor, fine motor, thinking routine
Purpose:-
1. To make students aware about common vehicles
2. To make students recognize and name different
mode of transportation
Time duration:- 8 days
Entry event:- Rhyme Wheels of the bus
Essential Questions:-
Which vehicle is used in the rhyme?
Have you seen a bus?
Where did you go in bus?
Which other vehicles have you seen?

Day 1

Circle time:- Introduction of vehicle theme by singing the rhyme


Wheels of the Bus
Purpose: To make student aware about the common vehicles
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to name and identify
common vehicles
Time duration :- 15 to 20 min
Studying aids:- Laptop , speakers, chalk board/ white board, chalk/
markers
Procedure:-Students will be sitting in a semi-circle. Advisor will make
children listen to the rhyme Wheels of the bus. Advisor will ask
students questions :
Which vehicle is used in the rhyme?
Have you seen a bus?
Where did you go in bus?
Which other vehicles have you seen?
Advisor will make list of vehicles students had seen on the chalk board/
white board
Advisor will make students watch vehicles passing by the gate
Day 2

Name of the activity:- Show and tell


Purpose:- To make students know names of common vehicles
Learning outcome:- Students will be able name common
vehicles
Time duration:- 15 to 20 min
Studying aids:- 2D and 3D vehicles
Procedure:- Students will be sitting in cluster
Advisor will show and name 2D and 3D vehicles
Advisor will show Tricycle and talk about characteristics of
Tricycle

Day 3

Name of the activity:- Riding tricycle


Purpose:- Gross motor, eye-leg coordination, body balance, space
awareness
To make student know about characteristic of tricycle and how to
drive a tricycle
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to pedal tricycle and learn
characteristics of tricycle
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Procedure:- Students will sit in a cluster
Advisor will show tricycle and talk about characteristics of tricycle
Advisor will say rubrics
Students will ride the tricycle
Day 4

Introduction of Bicycle
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to know the common
characteristics of a Bicycle
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Studying aids:- Bicycle and Tricycle
Procedure:- Students will be sitting in a cluster
Advisor will show Bicycle and discuss common characteristics of it.
Advisor will discuss the similarities in differences of Bicycle and Tricycle
(Bicycle = Two wheels, handle, seat, paddle, brakes, bell, stand, carrier, air to
be filled in wheels, can drive at long distance
Tricycle = Three wheels, handle, seat, paddle, bell, no brakes, no stand. No
carrier, air to be filled in wheels, cannot drive at long distance)
Rhyme:-
I have a little bicycle, I ride it all the day.
I have a little sing a bell, which goes on in my
way.
Tring a ling , tring-a ling
I have a little bicycle..
Day -5

Introduction of scooter
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to know the common
characteristics of a Scooter
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Studying aids:- Tricycle and Scooter
Procedure:- Students will be sitting in a cluster
Advisor will show Scooter and discuss common characteristics of it.
Advisor will discuss the similarities in differences of Scooter and
Tricycle
(Scooter= Two wheels, brakes, head light, indicators, horn, seat, dicky,
petrol tank, number plate, tail light, kick, stand , need to wear helmet
Tricycle = Three wheels, handle, seat, paddle, bell, no brakes, no stand.
No carrier, air to be filled in wheels, cannot drive at long distance)

Introduction of Car
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to know the common
characteristics of a Car
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Studying aids:- Scooter and Car
Procedure:- Students will be standing in semi-circle
Advisor will show Car and discuss common characteristics of it. Advisor
will discuss the similarities in differences of Scooter and Car
(Scooter= Two wheels, brakes, head light, indicators, horn, seat, dickey,
petrol tank, number plate, tail light, kick, stand , need to wear helmet
Car= Four wheels, staring wheel, seats, seat belt, gear, horn, wipers,
bonnet, mirror, indicator, head lights, brake, dickey, spare wheel, need
to fill air in wheels, petrol / diesel. Should be parked properly I parking.
Seat belt is a must.)
Name of the activity:- Coloring in Car
Purpose :- To enhance fine motor development
Eye and hand coordination
To develop pencil grip

Learning outcome:- Students will be able to name and identify


common vehicles
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Studying aids:- Stencil of Car, crayons, tray, office tray, Bajot
Procedure:- Students will be sitting in a cluster. Advisor will
demonstrate how to hold the crayon and do coloring in the
stencil of car. Students will sit on the shorter side of the Bajot .
Advisor will give stencil of Car . Students will do coloring.
Day -7

Introduction of Bus
Learning outcome:- Students will be able to know the common characteristics of a
Bus
Time duration:- 30 to 40 min
Studying aids:- Car and Bus
Procedure:- Students will be taken for a bus ride
Advisor will show Bus and discuss common characteristics of it. Advisor will tlak
about the similarities and differences between Car and Bus

(Car= Four wheels, staring wheel, seats, seat belt, gear, horn, wipers, bonnet, mirror,
indicator, head lights, brake, dickey, spare wheel, need to fill air in wheels, petrol /
diesel. Should be parked properly I parking. Seat belt is a must
Bus = Door, windows, stirring wheel, brakes, driver sear, horn, wipers, mirror,
indicator, head light, spare wheel, need to fill air in wheels, petrol / diesel.
Driver drives the bus. We can go from one place to another. There are many seats for
the passenger)
Day 8

Assessment :-
Studying aids:- 2D vehicles, LCD
Advisor will show flash card / Presentation of
vehicles and ask students to name them
