FAMILY
of two parents rearing their children; also : any
of various social units differing from but regarded
as equivalent to the traditional family <a single-
parent family>

SECTION 12. The State recognizes the sanctity of

family life and shall protect and strengthen the
family as a basic autonomous social institution. It
shall equally protect the life of the mother and
the life of the unborn from conception. The
natural and primary right and duty of parents in
the rearing of the youth for civic efficiency and

the support of the Government.
FAMILY PLANNING
This is a concept of enhancing the quality of life of every
member of the family through the use of family planning
methods to regulate the number of the children. - It
reduces the need for unsafe abortion.
- Some family planning methods help prevents the
transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted
infections.
- It reinforces peoples rights to determine the number and
spacing of their children.
- It allows people to attain their desired number of children
and determine the spacing of pregnancies. It is achieved
through use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of
infertility.

implies having only the desired number of

of the family as well as proper spacing
between the children.

premature rupture of the bag of waters
and increased risk of maternal death.

baby, preparing beforehand will help
you and your baby to have the
healthiest start.

conceived less than six months after giving birth had
a 40% increased risk for being born prematurely and
a 61% increased risk of low birth weight, compared
with infants born to mothers who waited 18 months
to two years between pregnancies.
