RELIGION
In Urdu and Arabic the word Mazhab is used for
religion, which is derived from Arabic roots
which means "to go" so mazhab means a
passage. Mazhab is a passage going to destination.

Thehuman brain which has always placed an object of

worship for him is commonly known as religion.

Many great people have tried to define religion in their

own ways but their definitions and interpretations
were always different from each other

community called a Church, all those who adhere to them."
INTRODUCTION
Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, with over 1
billion followers. It is a monotheistic faith based on
revelations received by the Prophet Muhammad in 7th-
century Saudi Arabia. The Arabic word Islam means
submission
 ISLAMIC BELIEFS

Beliefs are important in Islam. Right beliefs about God, the

universe, and humanity are of primary concern to Muslims.
The Quran, the sacred text of Islam states, "Righteous is he
who believes in Allah and the Last Day and the Angels and the
Scriptures and the Prophets" (2:177).
ISLAMIC PRACTICES

Certain sacred practices and rituals are very important to

Muslims. Some rituals are practiced daily, like prayer;
others are practiced annually, like those aligned with
specific Islamic holidays. The religious practices and
rituals of Islam are relatively few in number, but great in
importance. The Five Pillars of Islam are five practices
regarded by all sects of the Islamic religion as essential to
the Muslim faith.
 ISLAMIC TEXTS
In Islam, there are two main sacred texts: the Quran and the Hadith. These
books teach and illustrate Islamic beliefs, values, and practices. The Quran
is the most sacred text, as it is believed to be the literal word of God as
revealed to Muhammad. The Hadith is a secondary text that records sayings
of Muhammad and his followers. These two texts form the basis for all
Islamic theology, practice and Sharia (Islamic law).
WHERE ISLAM IS PRACTICED TODAY

The highest number of Muslims is found in the Asia-

Pacific region, followed by the Middle East and North
Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the Americas.
