NANOTECHNOLOGY Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional systems that deals with the dimensions of less than 100 nanometers, especially the manipulation of individual atoms and molecules.
A nanometer is one billionth
of a meter. DEFINITION Nanorobotics is the technology of creating machines or robots at or close to the scale of a nanometer (10-9 meters).
Nanorobots would typically be devices
ranging in size from 0.1-10 micrometers.
The nanorobots are expected to revolutionize
the medical industry, with the ability to treat at a cellular level and make medical applications easy and effective. STRUCTURE OF NANOROBOTICS It consists of: Molecular sorting motor Propellers Fins sensors ELEMENTS Carbon is the principle element comprising the bulk of a medical nanorobot, probably in the form of diamond or diamondiod nanocomposites.
Many other light elements such as
hydrogen, sulphur, oxygen, nitrogen, fluorine, silicon etc., will be used for special purposes in nanoscale gears and other components. MECHANISM The attached bacteria by rotating their flagella push the microscope to forward by using different chemicals the on/off motions of micro robots are controlled.
These chemicals bind to the flagella motor and
restrict their movement.
Mainly used chemicals are EDTA(Ethylene
diamine tetra acetic acid) used to restart their motion and copper ions used to stop their motion. WORKING OF NANOROBOTICS ADVANTAGES Rapid elimination of disease Faster and more precise diagnosis Non-degradation of treatment agents High operational speed Less side effects The major advantage of nanorobots is their durability. Theoretically they can remain operational for years, decades and centuries. DISADVANTAGES Possible food chain interruption Lack of knowledge Nano implements could adjust human DNA structure Environmental hazards APPLICATIONS In medical areas: Kidneys Tumors Blood clots Diabetes Atherosclerosis Parasite removal In spaceships EXAMPLES FOR NANOROBOTS INSIDE OUR BODY FUTURE OF ROBOTICS In industry and manufacturing In supercomputer In brains growth To improve healthcare
