PROBLEMS BACKGROUND ON KM
MINAJAYA
Only 14 from 31 of KM Minajaya Tuna Longliner ships have
been built and only 4 ships that being currently operated,
due to high rental cost.
Economic problems such as decreasing fish market value
at japan, fishing catch limit by Indonesian Government
etc are the major factors current operator cant pay as
much as the Indonesian government wants
Indonesian government effort to prosper East Indonesia

Pumps (1981
1
1-2 : Adiabatic Compression process, from dry saturated
vapour raised to superheated vapour by compressor

2-3: Heat release at constant pressure, causing condensate of

refrigerant. Cooling can takes way by air cooling or water
cooling
3-4: at condensor
Using expansion valve, metering device, etc. In order
to smooth compression process by compressor (reducing
pressure from saturated liquid to evaporator pressure 12
4-1: Liquid and vapour refrigerant run into heat
replenishment at constant pressure to vapourize refrigerant
by evaporator.

COMPRESSOR

Source: G.H Hundy. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat

Pumps (1981 )
Compressor with 2 types:
-Positive Displacement, compressing the
volume
-Dynamic, raises the velocity of low pressure
gasses then pressure will rise aswell

15
CONDENSOR

Source: G.H Hundy. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat

Pumps (1981 )

Condensor release heat from system to

environment, change refrigerant phase from
vapour to liquid
Condensor has 2 types:
-Air-cooled condensor
-Water-cooled condensor

16
EVAPORATOR

Source: G.H Hundy. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and

Heat Pumps (1981)

Evaporator, absorb the heat from the environment to

the system (refrigerant) and will cause refrigerant to
change phase from liquid to vapour

17
EXPANSION VALVES
-Expansion valves used to retain the
refrigerant from condensor to
evaporator, when the specific
pressure for evaporator is reached
(low pressure) the valve will be
open.

Have several types: Thermostatic expansion valve

Source: G.H Hundy. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat

-Manual Expansion Valves Pumps (1981 )

-Thermostatic expansion valve
-Constant pressure valve
-Float valve
-Capillary tube

REFRIGERANT
R717 Ammonia, low
R134a (HFC), has lower pressure than flammability, high
R22 toxicity, used with steel
or alumunium

R744 (C02), has

high dewpoint
pressure

19
REFRIGERANT
IDEAL REFRIGERANT PROPERTIES:

A.) High latent heat of vaporization

B.) High suction gas density
C.) Chemically stable, compatible
with construction materials and
miscible with lubricants
D.) Low cost
E.) Environmentally friendly
F.) Non-corrosive, non-toxic and
non-flammable

INSULATION
INSULATION FUNCTION:
-To reduce fishroom temperature
-To prevent spoilage of fish quality stowed near the surfaces
where the heat enters
-To conserve ice

due to crash with moor or with the poor ventilation at chain locker

3.) Rear sid of tween deck, bilge water
3.)At stern, due to hitting floating got stagnate at the back side then will
object accidentaly lead to corrosion that extends to ship
4.)Around mooring hull

side hull plate forecastle got stagnate and spreading
5.) At the plcae where friction to hull
happen because of mooring chain 5.)Corrosion at the floor side of side
6.)Hull side ship round window (side scuttles) due
that parallel with hatch, crack due to to high humidity (narrow and closed
crashing with loading item area)
7.) Around propeller and
6.) Front side and back side of
rudder, mostly because hitting floating
item or twisted with fishing nets bulkhead 27
8.)Bilge keel loose after ship hitting 7.) Top side from bilge strake
