What was the Holocaust?
the period from January 30, 1933 - whenAdolf
Hitlerbecame chancellor ofGermany- to May 8,
1945, when the war in Europe officially ended.
Jews in Europe were persecuted
led to the murder of 6,000,000 Jews(1.5 million
of these being children) and the destruction of
5,000 Jewish communities.
These deaths represented two-thirds of
European Jewry and one-third of all world Jewry.

where they had little chance to
survive.
The Nazis murdered six million Jews
during WWII.
They also murdered six million non-
Jewish people in concentration
camps.

People had little chance of survival
once taken there.
Many were murdered right away.
Others where forced to work as slave
laborers until they died of hunger or
from disease.

people looked the other way
while terrible things happened.
They pretended not to know that
their neighbors were being taken
away and locked in
concentration camps. They
pretended not to hear their cries
for help. The Nazis killed millions
of Jews and others in the
Holocaust. If everyone had

What is your fate?


Share Your Holocaust Narrative
Friday
You are going to make a tombstone honoring the
life and death of your Holocaust survivor or
victim. Many Holocaust victims and survivors did
not get the proper burial or funeral. It is your job
to now honor their lives by constructing a
tombstone for them.

Tombstones MUST HAVE:


The persons name
Dates born and died (if applicable)
One sentence or phrase that commemorates that
person
