Ticker-timer

To study the motion of a moving object

Used to determine the following variables

Time interval of the motion

Displacement
Velocity
Acceleration
Type of motion of the object

Ticker-
tape
a ticker-timer :
vibrates with frequency of 50 Hz.
Will lodge dots on the ticker tape at

the rate of 50 dots per second.

Time interval between two dots ( 1

tick ) is 1/50 s or 0.02 s.

The velocity of a car increases
from 10ms to 20ms after
moving a distance 0f 30 m.
What is its acceleration?
An object at 3 ms accelerates
for 2s with an acceleration of 6
ms. What is the distance
travelled?
A bus stops at a station to pick
passengers up. It then moves and
attains a velocity of 15 ms in 8
seconds. What is the acceleration of
the bus?
A car is moving at 40 ms speeds
up steadily with a uniform
acceleration of 2.2.ms. What will
the velocity of the car be after 5
seconds?
A man running at 5 ms
decelerates uniformly to a stop
after travelling a distance of 10
m . What is his deceleration?
A van that is traveling with
velocity 16 m s-1 decelerates
until it comes to rest.
If the distance traveled is 8
m, calculate the
deceleration of the van
A car accelerates from rest at
2.5ms for 10 s. Find the
velocity reached and the
displacement travelled after
10s. The driver then steps on
the brake pedal with a
constant force. The car stops
after travelling a distance of
50m. Calculate the
deceleration of he car after
the brakes are applied.
