Although previous investigators have shown that
curing geopolymer concrete at elevated temperature can hasten a strength development, but for practical lt application h in construction industry, geopolymer o concrete should be cured at room temperature.[1][2] u g h
Many research papers are reported that, white
deposit occurred on the surface of specimen which was initially soft but later converted to hard crystals. Identifying the underlaying causes for the crystal formation and finding solution for the same.[3] [5] [6] Objectives of the proposed work To develop geopolymer concrete using various sources of fly ash which reaches the target mean strength at room temperature.
To overcome the leaching or efflorescence in
geopolymer concrete.
To investigate the durability of geopolymer
concrete.
To compare the strength of geopolymer concrete
with conventional OPC concrete.
To access the economic viability of geopolymer
concrete. Methodology
Stage 1
Fly ash from different sources will be collected.
In this test, alkaline solution chosen are Potassium
silicate and sodium hydroxide
Testing the durability by following tests wet-dry
test, boiling water test, sulphate resistance test, acid resistance test.
Modified mixing method will be followed to
overcome the leaching. Stage 2
Evaluation of compressive, tensile and flexural
strength.
Examine the effect of durability on geopolymer
concrete.
Examine the leaching effect in modified mixing
method .
Stage 3
Comparing the strength of geopolymer concrete
Literature Survey Prakash et.al.[1]
This paper studied on various parameters i.e., ratio of
alkaline liquid to fly ash, concentration of sodium hydroxide, curing temperature have been investigated. The test result show that compressive strength increases with increase in the curing time, curing temperature, concentration of sodium hydroxide solution.
Ramujee et.al.[2]
In this paper an attempt is made to developed the mix
design for GPC in both heat curing and ambient curing condition. The result shows that compressive strength attained at 28 days for GPC under ambient curing is almost equal to Mustafa et.al.[3]
In this paper reports that, fly ash based geopolymer
concrete provides high compressive strength with the increase of fly ash fineness. Fly ash based geopolymer concrete was exposed to magnesium sulphate environment for 24 weeks, the white deposit were observed on the surface of specimen.
Shankar et.al.[4]
This paper presents the experimental investigation
done on performance of geopolymer concrete subjected to severe environmental condition. The test result indicate that the heat cured fly ash based geopolymer concrete has an excellent Neetu et.al.[5]
This paper studied on geopolymer concrete with class
F fly ash with alkali solution sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide. The test result indicates sulphuric acid attack leads to deposition of a white layer of gypsum crystals on the acid exposed surface. In OPC, no gypsum deposition can be detected visually.
Thochom et.al.[6]
This paper presents performance of geopolymer
concrete specimen in magnesium sulphate solution. The test result indicate that white deposit occurred on the surface of specimen which was initially soft but Expected outcome Achieving geopolymer concrete which reaches target mean strength at room temperature.
Enhancement of knowledge about different
sources of fly ash. We can understand that certain fly ash can be used for application in construction industry and certain fly ash not suitable for application.
Modified mixing method overcomes the leaching
effect in geopolymer concrete.
Geopolymer concrete will resist wet-dry test,
boiling water test, sulphate resistance test and References
