WORLD WAR II

What Was World War II?


Happened 20 years after World War I. This was known to be the
most widespread and deadliest war in history. World War II was caused
by Hitlers invasion of Poland. The war went on for 6 years (193945).Over 30 countries were involved, the Axis Powers vs. The Allies.
More than 60 million military and civilians deaths. The war ended
when the final Allie beat nazi Germany and Japan.

THE HOLOCAUST
Led by Adolf Hitler
Murdered around 6 million European
Jews (as well as Gypsies and
homosexuals)
Concentration camps lasted from
1941-1945
Jews were an inferior race, an
alien threat to German racial
purity and community
according to Adolf Hitler and his
german army.

PEARL HARBOR

The attack was a surprise


December 7, 1941
Japanese airplanes attacked the Naval
base near Hawaii destroying nearly 20
naval vessels and 8 battleships
Over 3,000 Americans were killed and
wounded
3 days later Germany and Italy declared
war on the US

D-DAY
Began on June 6th, 1944
One of the biggest military attacks in history
156,000 American, Canadian, and British troops landed on 5 beaches in
France
Normandy landings were also known as the beginning of the end of the end
of the war in France

Modern Day War


Unmanned drones are now
used to attack and surveil
enemies
Submarines are now nuclear
powered
Tanks are much faster and
more heavily armed
Warships are now armed
with missiles that fly up to
1000 miles
