Folk arts are one of the best prestigious identity o
f our country with various type of cultural arts in v
arious parts of the country. Among them the folk
arts of tamilnadu has a renowned place from the
historical periods. This thesis is an attempt to stu
dy about these numerous cultural art forms of the
state from roots to and address their role in the c
urrent scenario of modern developing environme
nts. The main aim of the project is to study the act
ivities and the requirements of various folk arts a
nd reinterpret them in terms of architectural spac
