A Few Facts
On
Translators
and
Translations

There are about 330,000 translators in the world.

Vladimir Nabokov was extremely opposed to translations, believing

that they destroyed the beauty of the original work.

78% of all books between the years 2000 and 2010 were translated
into French or German and only 5% into Chinese.

The root of the word is Latin, and it is literally translated to mean

the carrying from one place to another.

Every year on September 30, International Translation Day is

celebrated across the globe in honor of the people who do the hard
work of translation.

I speak two languages, can I

be a translator.

There is much more to it then just speaking the languages.

Being a translator requires the ability of being meticulous, organized with

the ability to not only be somewhat fluent but to convey tone and
grammatical (or near) perfection to what is being said.
