Hillary Clintonis an American politician who


was theU.S Secretary of State (20092013),
U.S. Senator of New York (2001-2009), and First
Lady of the U.S. (1993-2001). She was the
Democratic Party's nominee for U.S. President
in the 2016 election.

EARLY LIFE
Born October 26, 1947.
Raised in the town of Park Ridge Chicago, Illinois.
Father, Hugh Rodham managed a small business in

the textile industry.


Mother, Dorothy Howell Rodham, was a home-maker.
Hilary has two younger brothers, Hugh (born1950)&
Tony(born 1954).

EDUCATION

Hillary attended Park ridgeElementary school

In Maine East high school, she was selected for the National Honor

Society and participated in student council & school newspaper.

In 1965, Hillary enrolled at Wellesley College, where she majored in

political science.

She went on to earn her Juris Doctordegree from Yale in 1973.

Hillary went on to begin a year of postgraduate study on children &

medicine at the Yale Child Study Centre.

FAMILY LIFE
Hillary married Bill on October 11th 1975.
After decades of fighting on behalf of children and

families, the Clintons started their own family in 1980.


Their daughter, Chelsea was born on the 27th of February.
In 2014, Hillary took on a new role; grandmother of
Chelsea's daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.
On June 18th 2016, she welcomed her second grandchild,
Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky.

BILL'S ELECTION
Bill Clinton took office as President in January 1993 and

was re-elected in 1996.


AfterEleanorRoosevelt, Clinton was regarded as the
most openly empowered presidential wife in American
history.
Bill Clinton's campaign promise of "two for the price of
one" led opponents to referred to the Clintons as "copresidents"

HILLARY'S WORK
As first lady, she led the fight to

provide all Americans with affordable


health care.
She worked with Republicans and
democrats to help create the
successful Children's Health
Insurance Program (CHIP).
In 1995 Hillary led the U.S.
delegation at the U.N. Fourth World
Conference on Women in Beijing.

After the terrorist attacks of

September 11th, 2001, Hillary went


to bat to help New York City rebuild.
She brokered a ceasefire between
Israel and Hamas that averted a war.
She made advancing the status of
women and girls around the world a
core part of U.S. foreign policy.

ELECTION 2016
On April 12th 2015, Hillary announced her campaign for

President.
Clinton's main competitor in the Democratic nomination contest
was Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders
On June 6th 2016, the Associated Press declared Clinton the
nominee of the Democratic Party.
Her campaign officially ended after Clinton conceded defeat to
republican rival Donald Trump on November 9th 2016, although
she won popular vote nationwide.

Hillary lost election for class president in her senior year against two

boys, one of whom told her "you are really stupid if you think a girl can
be elected president".
During her freshman year in Wellesley College, she served as president of

Wellesley Young Republicans.


In the late spring of 1971, she began dating Bill Clinton, he was also a

law student.
She stayed on an extra year in Yaleto be with Clinton.
