STELLA

PRESENTATION

ABOUT STELLA
Stella, a computerprogramthat allows modelling
and simulation to be done.
Stella software available in three versions such as
GreatStella, SmallStella and Stella4D
The programs contain a large library of polyhedra
which can be manipulated and altered in various
ways.
It was created by Robert Webb of Australia.

ADVANTAGES
Easily can understand science relationships.
Can develop graphing skills
Can be use at any time and any place
More accurate readings provided
Can be used in remote or dangerous situations.

DISADVANTAGES
Needs internet connection.
Sometimes it is difficult to interpret simulation results.
There is poor understandings of how simulation works.

RELATIONSHIP OF OIL
PALM AND RAT/MICE

The present study examined the numerical and functional

responses of rodents to changes in the availability of oil
palm fruit and the damage associated with that response.
Regardless of the age of palms, there were positive and
significant relationships between the relative abundance of
rats and numbers of infructescences.
A steep increase in damage was observed with an increase
in mature infructescences, indicating a feeding preference
of rats for mature infructescences.
These results indicated that there was a numerical and a
functional response by rats to the availability of palm fruit
and a resulting increase in depredation of oil palm fruits.

GRAPH 1

The graph is based on the stimulation of

the population of 40000 mice and the
population of 5 owls.
At the beginning of the graph the
population of mice starts to drop and
increase to its max during the middle of
the graph after that it drops but increase
at the end of the graph.
While for the population of the owl, the
amount rises to the peak at the beginning
of the graph and starts to drop abruptly
to the lowest point. After the lowest point,
the population of owl starts to increase
slowly and face another sudden drop but
end up rising at the end of the graph.
Lastly for the amount of the oil palm, it
increases steadily throughout the graph.

GRAPH 2
The population of mice decreases to its
lowest point and starts to increase
slowly to its peak at the middle of the
graph. After the peak, the population of
mice starts to drop until the end of the
graph.
For the population of the owl, we
observed a sudden drop right after a
slightly increase at the beginning of the
graph. After that, the population of the
owl starts to increase slowly until the
end of the graph with no sign of
dropping.
The amount of oil palm increases
steadily throughout the graph with no
sign of decreasing.

GRAPH 3
The population of mice increase slowly at
the beginning of the graph but starts to
increase quickly at the middle of the
graph. At the end of the graph, the
population of mice increases abruptly
without any sign of decreasing.
For the population of owl, it drops to zero
in a sudden and stays zero throughout
the graph.
Lastly, the amount of the oil palm
increase steadily from the beginning until
middle of the graph. As the end of the
graph, the amount of the oil palm starts
to drop without any sign of increasing.

CONCLUSION
The prey-predator relationship between the mice and the owl is every
important to make sure the productivity of the oil palm increase
permanently.
If the relationship is imbalance, the population of oil palm will decrease
according to the stimulation of Figure 3.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 shows the stimulation of the balance prey-predator
relationships will further make sure the incline of the oil palm population.
