CONCEPT
CONNECTION

primary concept of the whole project. The
entirety of the structure is influenced by this
concept.

CONCEPT
IRIDEA

Iris + idea

Iridea, the proposed edifice, was named

after the messenger of the gods, Iris, and
the word idea (which translates to, the
messenger of the idea).

What it was named after also reflects its

principal purpose, and that is to enhance
the
state
of
communication
and
information technology in the Philippines.

CONCEPT
INSIGNIA

The Endless Knot

The endless knot symbolizes connection in

Buddhism and it correlates with the
structure in terms of function, which is the
endless route that the edifice will take in
serving the country.

It will be the emblem of Iridea.

CONSIDERATIONS
2

Privacy and security

must be addressed in
creating technological
structures since they
are hotspots for theft
and security threats.

Double entrances
are incorporated
upon entrance in
the IT department.

ACCESS CONTROL
SYSTEM

Staff rooms, computer

rooms, electric rooms
and other private rooms
use hydraulic doors for
increased security.

Staff and students must

log-in first before
entering the premise.

Security cameras are

also installed in some
areas.

FENESTRATION

Pedestrians from the outside must

not see whats going on inside the
IT department, but the usual
solution for this results in a
fortress-like workplace. This should
not be a compromise in design.

One-way, triple-glazed
glass windows are used
to achieve privacy without
compromising the view
and psychological element
of the workplace.

UNIVERSAL
DESIGN

Ramps that span floor levels, transport

lifts, carrier lifts, etc. are distributed in
the structure. This is to provide better
circulation for active elements in the
structure such as users, staff, and
some equipment/apparatuses.

RAISED
FLOORS

Floors are raised in rooms/areas where

additional cooling systems are applied.
This is to add space for the pipes and
ducts that will be used in the process.

VENTILATION
