Animals of the World

My Resource
My resource is a book called Animals of the World by Martin
Walters and Jinny Johnson.

Summary of this book

There are many things you can learn from this book. There are 7
chapters about different groups of animals in the Animal Kingdom.
Some examples are insects and arthropods, fish, amphibians and
reptiles, mammals, and etc. For example if you look in the Birds
chapter you can learn about flightless birds, sea birds, birds and prey,
and even more!

3 Things I Learned From This Resource

One thing I have learned is that on page 132, it says Amphibians
are cold-blooded animals that have what is known as a double life.
They begin in water as jelly covered eggs which later hatch into
tadpoles. The tadpoles change shape or metamorphose as they grow,
into adults that breathe by lungs and walk on land on four legs.

The second thing I learned from this resource is on page 94, it says
Spiders are members of the Arthropod group called Arachnids. The
main feature of a arachnid is that it has eight legs, unlike an insect
which has six, and a crustacean which has ten or more. Other
arachnids include harvestmen, scorpions, ticks, and mites.

The last thing I learned from this resource was on page 43, it says
Leeches are like flattened types of worms. They have muscular bodies
which can shorten or lengthen, and a sucker at the end. It also talks
about how leeches move. A leech moves by looping. It stretches
forward while anchored by it's back sucker, and sticks down the front
one. Then it detaches the rear sucker, shortens its body, attaches the
rear sucker again, and so on.

How and Why I Picked This Resource

How I found this book was very simple. As soon as Mr. Fuller
introduced this project I automatically remembered, I had this huge
book at home about animals in the world. So I decided to use that
book as my project. The reason why I used this book was because it
had a lot of great information about different groups in the Animal
KIngdom such as mammals, birds, fish, and etc.
