RESEARCH OBJECTIVES/QUESTION/HYPOTHESES

To study the efficacious structural factors of creation and development of

digital entrepreneurship

1) Are the mean scores of structural factors for digital entrepreneurship

more than average?

2) Which dimensions of structural factors for digital entrepreneurship is

greater than other dimensions of it?

3) Is there acceptable goodness of fit in exploratory and structural equation

modeling in the present study?

1) How does ICT shape the nature of digital entrepreneurship in an

emerging economy?

2) How does an emerging economys local context encourage digital

entrepreneurship?

METHODOLOGY (1)

Quantitative research approach

The sample size was 40 experts that were selected

randomly from experts of digital entrepreneurship in the
agricultural sector in Iran.

Digital entrepreneurship questionnaire was designed by

researchers. It contains 22 items and it has 5
dimensions namely:

supporting role, cognitional role, policy making role,

infrastructure of ICT and ICT applications.

The reliability of this questionnaire was reported as

0.927. A 5 point Likert-type scale ranging from "I
strongly disagree" to "I strongly agree was used in this
study.

Data analysis was carried out by SPSS 17.0 and Lisrel 8.54.

METHODOLOGY (2)

CASE STUDY Qualitative Research (purposeful qualitative

research design with multiple case studies)

Purposive Sampling technique was employed

In-depth semi-structured interviews with each ownermanager

All the interviews Data was manually transcribed, coded

and content-analysed to isolate themes and patterns that
could be used to examine the nature of digital
entrepreneurs in Cameroon

Findings and Limitations (1)

There

were significance in the perceptions of

experts about the structural factors for digital
entrepreneurship at all dimensions (supporting
role, cognitional role, policy making role,
infrastructure of ICT and ICT applications).

The

cognitional role has the highest

importance in structural factors for digital
entrepreneurship

From

the structural equation model, all the

dimensions are in fitness.

Findings and Limitations (2)

1. Digital entrepreneurs who either had an educational

background in computer sciences or a passion for ICTs
demonstrated a clear vision for seizing the entrepreneurial
opportunities created by societys increasing adoption and use
of ICTs.

2. Degree to which a newly created digital enterprise depends on

ICTs to execute its operations affects the likelihood of success
in digital entrepreneurship.

3. Knowledge of the country-specific context and capabilities to

deal with the associated contextual influences are
necessary
conditions
for successfully launching a digital
enterprise.

IMPLICATIONS (1)
Overall,

it can be said that according to the

results of the present study, the government
factor is more important than the electronic
readiness level, especially the supporting and
cognitional roles. This implies that government
should support the creation and development
of digital entrepreneurship generally.

IMPLICATIONS (2)

The findings pose a range of questions about how digital

entrepreneurs justify their entry choices and make
decisions about when and how to innovate, and how to run
their digital businesses.

Digital entrepreneurship in emerging economies is a

nascent field in need of theory development by
international business scholars.
