Overview of the
Industrial Training
Program

Industrial Training is Compulsory. It is a requirement of BEM/IEM/EAC


Minimum duration is 12 weeks continuous.
Duration 20th February 2017 8th May 2017
Eligibility: Must have completed a minimum of 70 credits and CGPA > 2.0
before commencing the training. After completing year 2 and before doing
FYP2.

Pre requisite subjects


BEPE: Control System (EEEB 323 )
BEEE & BCCE: Control System (EEEB 323 )
BME: Theory of Machines (MEMB263)
BCE: Geology Eng. (CESB223), Structural Analysis I (CEGB112) & Hydraulic Eng.
(CEWB222)
Students need to apply to the company themselves.
Must register IT as a subject for the Special Semester, 2015/2016 (pre-registration on 16th to 17th Jan 2015.)

1. CIDB GREEN CARD


PROGRAM
Students must obtain CIDB Green
Card before going for training.
Requirement by Law under CIDB Act.
The Law requires employers to train
the
employees
and
provide
appropriate
personnel
protective
equipment
to ensure safety of
workers.

Compulsory to ALL (CE,ME, EE, CC, EP
and IT) students.
How to Get a Green Card : Apply for the Green Card Registration to
CIDB online
Undergo a Safety and Health Induction
Course

The Green Card must be kept with you


all the time during work .

Green Card Registration Procedures: Register online at http://smb.cidb.gov.my
Print out online registration slip and submit
the slip to COE counter BN.

Last day 23rd Nov. 2016

Registration fee is RM 50 for local students


and RM 25 for International Students.
Payment can be made by Money Order or
Bank Draft made payable to CIDB. This is
processing fee charged by CIDB.
The Money Order or Bank Draft is to be
submitted to the course instructor on the
course date.

Benefits of the Green Card
Program : Obtain a Green Card without which you
wont be allowed to enter the sites
Awareness on the Occupational Safety and
Health Issues Free Course
Insurance Under Skim Takaful.
Automatically activated when a person has
the green card. Coverage 24 hours
anywhere in the world. Also covers limited
hospitalization cost

Placement
If you hold any scholarship, you are
required to consult your sponsor for
approved
placement
of
industrial
training.
All YTN (scholarship/loan), IPP, and other
organizations sponsored students must
consult their sponsors to find out if
industrial training placement is provided.

Placement
# How many applications can I make?
No limit. You can send as many as you wish.
# When can I start sending the application?
Can start now. Companies may need 2 -3 months to
process your application.
# Is there any sample application?
Yes. Available at http://lms.uniten.edu.my/moodle /.
# I did not register IT as a subject, can I undergo
training?
You MUST register IT (COEB314) as a subject for the
special sem. Otherwise, your training will not be
considered for evaluation.

# Can I do training overseas?


Yes. Conditions
You must submit the Host supervisor
evaluation form after the training.
There must be at least one email
communication between your host
supervisor and department coordinator.
# Can I change the company?
NO. You are NOT allowed to change the company once
you submit the Industrial Training Registration form.
Student will not be graded if the student takes up the
industrial training in a company which is not recognized by
the industrial training committee.
A FAIL grade will be awarded to a student who changes
company without fulfilling the requirements stated above
and/or when we receive any complaint from a company on
the students failure to report for duty.

3. APPROVAL OF
PLACEMENT

Once your application to a company is


successful, you need to bring the
Industrial Training Approval Form and
the Offer Letter from the company to
your Department Industrial Training
Coordinator For Approval.

# The coordinator will check the following:


That you have registered Industrial
Training as
a subject for the special
semester:
That you are eligible to take up the
training.
That you have a valid Offer Letter from
the company.
That you have correctly filled in the
Industrial Training Approval Form.

4. TRAINING APPROVAL
Once the coordinator approves your training
you need to do:
Register the details in the online ITS system
under Final placement link.
Submission of IT Approval Form and online entry.
Make sure you have registered IT (COEB314) as a subject for
the special Semester (i.e. subject registration done).

Submit the approval form and offer letter (hard


copy) to Ms. Fatin Syamimi at COE Admin office.
During the first week of the training, you need
to update the host supervisor details in the ITS
system under Report Duty link.

7. Students going for


Training Overseas
Please submit Host Supervisor Evaluation
Form to your
host supervisor for the
evaluation
of
your
industrial
training
programme.
The completed form should be returned to the
Industrial Training Coordinator in sealed
envelope when you come back.
It is the responsibility of students to submit
this from otherwise you will be awarded FAIL.

8. VISITING LECTURER
Visiting supervisor will visit at least once.
What the supervisor will do during the visit:

Discuss with the officer in charge of


industrial training (host supervisor) in the
company
activities of the organization
scope of the industrial training / training
schedules
performance of the students / students
progress
other matters: future IT placements, job
opportunity, collaboration opportunity etc.
Conduct the oral presentation for you
along with the host supervisor.

9. APPRECIATION LETTER
Download host supervisor appreciation letter before
the training finish.
Type the name of you host supervisor and the
company.

POST

1. SUBMISSION
Submit the Industrial Training
Completion Certificate to the
assigned visiting supervisor.
Submit the Industrial Training
Completion Report Form online at ITS.
Do the oral presentation on the
scheduled day (for those who do their
training overseas only).

2. ORAL PRESENTATION
The students are required to perform industrials
trainings oral presentation which will be assessed by a
panel of lecturers (for those doing overseas) or by the
host and visiting supervisors (for those doing locally).
The assessment will be based on Grading Form.
Each student will be given a period of ten (10) to
fifteen (15) minutes for the presentation and five (5)
minutes for questions and answers (QA). Assessment
of the students seminar will be mainly based on the
contents, style of the presentation and also the ability
of answering questions. The presentation must also
include a video presentation on each students
Industrial Training experience. You can use OHP sheets
for the presentation.

5. LOG BOOK

Submit the certified log book to the assigned


visiting supervisor.

6. IT RESULT
PASS or FAIL based on marks scored.
The passing marks will be 50%.
FAIL result will also be given to those who
fail to submit the industrial training's
report or fail to perform Student's Oral
Presentation.
Those who are failed are required to repeat
the training.

FAQ

I have got no placement yet:


- Try to contact the companies, call them up. Still cannot get,
contact your coordinator to discuss other options.
I wish to change company:
- Once you enter the details in ITS, you cannot change the
company.
I cannot register IT as a subject yet:
- You have to register when it is open for add and drop. If you
cannot register during add and drop, then contact your
coordinator and inform this. You will not get the transcript if you
do not register.
I wish to end the training before the agreed date:
-You must write a letter to the company and get a release letter
from the company. The release letter should be submitted to us
along with the training completion certificate.
I am doing only labour work and no technical job during
training:
- Inform your coordinator immediately by email. We will speak to
the Host on this.

Details
Before going for the training
Get CIDB green card.
Apply and get placement
Submit the Industrial Training Registration Form and the
acceptance letter to the industrial training coordinator for
approval.
Approval of the placement.
Register the industrial training details in UNITENS online student
info system (ITS).
Submission of approved Industrial Training Registration Form
and the acceptance letter to the COE industrial training
Assistant, Ms Nor Ainin Jamaludin. The forms must be submitted
only after the online registration.
During the training
Arrange for visitation and oral presentation (for those doing
locally only), maintain log book
Upon completion of the training
Submit the Industrial Training Completion Certificate to the
assigned Visiting Supervisor. (Sample is available in the guideline)
Submit the Training Report .
Submit the Industrial Training Completion Report Form
online at ITS.
Submit the certified log book to the assigned visiting supervisor.
