THE INFORMATION AGE

The information age is what we the present day are
currently in. The focus on societies have changed,
economies were mainly built on manufacturing and
started to focus on information processing. Companies
made conscious efforts to innovate. Due to these changes
a lot of machines and ideas have been discovered/built to
make our everyday lives easier. The evolution of
technology expands our economy system.

THE COMPUTER
ENIC (Electrical Numerical Integrator And Computer) was
the first electronic general-purpose computer. It was
digital and was able to solve a large class of numerical
problems. The computers purpose was mainly for
calculating artillery firing tables for the U.S army. The
computer could calculate things 2400 times faster than
humans. Automation and computerization resulted in
higher productivity.

The internet was developed during the 1970s by the
department of defense. The Internet was mainly
used by scientist to communicate with other
scientist. The government had control of the internet
until 1984.
An early problem for internet users was speed,
information could only be transmitted at a limited
rate. The invention of fiber-optic cables increased
speed that information could be transmitted. The

LIVING CONDITIONS
The living conditions today in the information age is much better than
back then. The U.S today holds one of the top ranks in housing,
income and wealth. Employment wise 68% people of the age 15 to
